This is one of the re-issue AMT promos. It's a '55 in correct Harvest Gold (light yellow). However, the promo came with a completely black interior. Black interiors were not available on Corvette in 1955. I simply took it apart, corrected the interior to replicate one of 120 made in this combination. I also applied BMF to the windshield surround, and garnish moldings around the interior, and to the side trim which was tampo painted on the promo. A little polishing and it turns into a nice display model. These are inexpensive and rewarding little "quickies" to take a break from other projects. Now I have a replica of the first generation Corvette that is a bit different than the more common white '53.

I did Harry. If you look at the profile pic, you'll see the blackwash. What I forgot to do is detail the emblem in the center spinner cap, and I think that's what's making the wheel covers look plain.

Very nicely done! I also have this promo and similar plans for it - I think it's a better place to start than the AMT kit.

Have built a number of the snap kits or improved promos. You're right it's a great way to get a quick build done and a new project on the shelf. Since I don't build for contests and there are no model shows in my area I'm quite content building shelf models for my own satisfaction.

Ok, then... I guess you're one step ahead of me!

Nice model. B)
