Just checked the Model Truck Builders From Around The World page on Facebook and Drake Collectibles have announced at the Australian Model Expo that they will be releasing two new kits. A 1/24 scale model kit of an Australian Kenworth K200 Aerodyne and a Drake Trailers 4X8 Swingwing Low Loader and 2X8 Dolly for 2015.

Here are some pics of the kits:

Yes,Ii saw them. Since KW doesn't sell class 8 cabovers in North America an intersting modification conversion would be fun to do.

Interesting choice, always thought a conventional would be preferred over a COE.

Anyway looking forward reading the reviews, when these kits hit the market.in Oceania next year.

Gee , if the prices of their diecast products is anything to go by you better start saving mega for these . In australia coe's are used for their tight turning circles and length regulations in the float industry .

Cabovers are used in Australia primarily due to our overall length laws. Most of if not all grocery distribution trucks used by Linfox, Camerons, Aldi etc.are European Cabovers. As for B double combinations both interstate and local again the majority will be Cabovers to keep

within overall length and maintain legal payload capabilities.

the word from the company is that the kits will be priced close to what most kits are being released at now. so they could be priced from $90AUD to $150AUD. Hopefully won't be priced anywhere near the price of the metal trucks. I think they are priced more for the serious collector, not the hobbyist like we are.

I'd've love to get some of their kits, did anybody go to their website and see the conventional kenworth kits they offer ?????

They've released diecast 1/50 scale T908 and K200 Kenworths along with the low loader and dolly. This Kenworth K200 and Drake low loader is coming out next year. Cheers

BTW just read a friend's post on the SH board and he writes that hey have a Kenworth T909 Conventional on the drawing board too.

Also he states that the kits will be in 1/25th scale and priced like the Moebius trucks.

That will sell heaps. I'm not bothered if its 1/25 or 1/24. It's great news.

Where is there more info on these kits? I've looked on the drakeshop.com but can only find 1:50 scale diecast stuff.

I really don't see them offering any other trailers that what they offer in real life. Remember, this is a real trailer manufacturer that's having these kits made as promotional items, they are not a model company.

I have applied to purchase these kits in batches at wholesale. I am not sure if I'll be able to for sure or not but if I do, my intention is to offer them for sale for less than you would have to pay to purchase them from Drake directly and pay shipping from Australia.

Word has it may be released in May 2015. Seen this on Ozautobuilders and truck model world forum. I'm really looking forward to this.
