Dragline Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 One of my favorite movies and cars of all time, the fabled V8 Interceptor. Here it is in its final configuration, road worn all almost out of petrol. This was such a fun build and i thank Aoshima for upgrading it with PE, chain and cardboard Dinky Dog dog food boxes. The interior is a masterpiece of accuracy to the original. You basically pick the correct parts, shoot em semi black and that's it. I painted the flat black hood and sides but only the hood is clear to see. I used Vallejo pigments for the red earth and secured it with isopropyl from my airbrush.
Dragline Posted July 5, 2014 Author Posted July 5, 2014 I used Vallejo Rust wash for the undercarriage and still have to secure earth to it and shoot Iso to finish it completely. What a blast to build and it looks the part IMHO. Get one while you can. Bob
RatRod Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 You'll build anything huh Bob? Great to see you step out of your norm! That thing looks great, nice weathering.
TooOld Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Not really a fan of the movies but it's definitely a cool car . Excellent looking build !
DPNM Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Excellent build and weathering Bob!!! One of my favorite movies.
The70judgeman Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Looks great! Just got one off of ebay. Just one question though...where did you get the correct rear wheels? My kits, I have two now, have the same patterned rear wheels as the fronts...only they're wider and deeper.
DeeCee Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Being an Aussie, and having seen so many of these built, i can appreciate just how well you have done it, great work on the weathering too mate.
Helix Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Like Dale said, you've done a fine job on this Bob, excellent attention to detail mate
PowerPlant Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Love the movies, great replica! Can it also be easily built without the front fascia it looses during the chase at the very beginning of the Road Warrior, or would that require cutting and scratchbuilding?
mnwildpunk Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Prefer the mad max version but this R.W. version looks awesome
Yahshu Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Very nice build, I really like your weathering, one suggestion though, the blue light needs to go, not part of the MM2 car
Dragline Posted July 6, 2014 Author Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) Phil is correct. The blue light does need to be removed. I just thought it looked so cool but of course by this time in the movie his "police: status meant nothing. PowerPlant, there is a resin conversion out there that has the full Falcon Xb body with trunk and spoiler. You use this kit as a basis since it provides the light [see above comment] as well as full interior side panels, rear wheels and a few other details. As the car progresses through the first two [and really only two, Thunderdome? Really?] good movies. It morphs from actual MFP vehicle to what I have built here This car has the big tanks obviously, as well as the missing spoiler and gutted interior. The rear wheel are only available in this kit also. This is the kit you are looking at here. It has all the parts you need to build either version if you also get the resin conversion for the first type when Max see's it in the MFP basement. Thanks for all the kind words as well.
