LongRoofNut Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Well after six years of bad paint, finding the wood grain and various other road blocks my '70 Country Squire is done. This is a loose replica of my '77 Country Squire I restored in college between 2005 to 2008. I hand made the roof rack, God only knows where I picked up the water slide decals for the wood grain and the wheel covers are off the reissued AMT van kit. Paint was Testors lacquer flame red with three coats of clear, wet sanded and hand polished. Other than adding an antenna and a few items to match my '77, shes 99% done.

Sixties Sam Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Excellent! Great finish, and nice work on the roof rack! Is that a resin body? Sam
LongRoofNut Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 Thank you everyone! Yup Sam that is a Modelhaus resin kit.
Helix Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 (edited) Awesome Build Jonny, really nice mate, reminds me of the 'Brady Bunch' car, but that was a Plymouth Satelitte wagon Edited July 10, 2014 by Helix
CJ1971 Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I love seeing wagons. Love seeing stuff that's out of the ordinary & built beautifully! Congratulations mate! Fine example & awesome work! Well worth all those years of trouble during it's build. Persistence has well & trully paid off ?? Cheers Cliff
Speedpro Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 My dad had one of these. Brings back some good memory's. Great job and thanks for sharing!
peekay Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Absolutely love this one! The only thing wrong is that it should be on MY shelf!
TooOld Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Beautiful ! From a fellow Long Roof lover , congratulations on a great looking build !
LongRoofNut Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 Thanks everyone! It was a great kit overall and I will be buying another to match the green '78 I have now.
Greg Wann Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Very nice. I would like to have a 70's Buick Skylark Sport wagon in scale.
Maindrian Pace Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Beautiful job! Red Bear Graphics offers the wood grain decals for this model. http://www.bdparrish.com/70fordwagon.html?1319260454843 -MJS
LongRoofNut Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 Mike, Modelhaus provided the decals from RedBear for the '70 CS. They are nice but a tad thick and they did not match the woodgrain I used to restore my '77. Wish I can find the plastic sleeve the waterslide decals I used, think they were out of the military section. Just like the real wagons, finding the right or close woodgrain is an art in itself. LOL.
