Sport Suburban Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I thought I would take the time and show off one of my builds that I finished up earlier this year. I have not been posting much of my stuff or even taking photos of what I have been up to. Here is one of my big restoration projects. This took a few years to gather everything up and get the project going. This is a Johan 69 Javelin SST that I built starting with two broken up bodies that I will post up also. But first here is the finished build. Any questions just ask and I will do my best to answer them.
Sport Suburban Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 Here is some of what I started with. These pictures are from the eBay auction. I had to use parts of both of these bodies to build this car. The blue body is what I chose to start with. I needed to replace the cowl with a resin piece that I had cast. I also had to use the uncut rear wheel openings from the red/blue body. You can see that they were enlarged on the blue body.
Sport Suburban Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 Here are a few photos of the body work. Both bodies did strip well and you can see that in these photos. You can also see the resin replacement cowl and core support.

Chris White Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 you got some skills, the bmf is crisp and sharpe
TooOld Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 That's one beautiful Javelin , great job on the restoration ! With all of the attention being paid to the AMX people often forget what a great looking car the Javelin was .
disabled modeler Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Beautiful work.....Amazing save.....some things are worth all the work
AZ Boy Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Very nice job, Raoul..! These type of builds are much more satisfying upon completion than a fresh, new kit from the box. Great build!
Guest Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Very nice restoration Raoul! I have a lot more respect for a model built in this manner because you basically start with useless junk parts and build something really nice with it. I'll take an old hard to find glue bomb over a new kit any day. Well done!
smellyfatdude Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I'd be impressed even if all you'd posted was the finished build. After seeing what you started with, I'm in awe! That's a totally sharp Javelin!
Harry P. Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 You did a lot of work on that model... so why did you leave the huge gaps between the body and the front fender wells?
