Took HS on yet another cruise yesterday, though not another classic was sighted. In terms of action it was a bit boring, and I was banished to the backseat again, but it is always a pleasure to be in the car and out on a cruise. Now if I could just drive it...

Went east the highway for the first car show of the season, the Bruce Mines car show. 45 ish minutes on the highway which I drove; also the real first time I drove on the highway. Gotta practice for the G license test so I can then drive the you know what. Very awesome car show, better than last year I think. Loads of nice cars and some I haven’t seen before (you’ll see the pics in 1:1 car shows thread soon). Was also good because my dad was able to talk with the owner of a ‘69 LeMans convertible about parts and what not, and to get a better idea about things we need for our ‘69 LeMans coupe. Really a nice car show today it was great.

Pleased that there is some progress on resurrecting Fakerri.  Last night I dashed to a favorite spot in a subdivision for sunset #2 pictures.  Turn signals work now.

Nothing so rare as a day in June. Rain clouds threatened all day but kept missing us until late afternoon. Skies cleared and it's been a beautiful evening with the bonus of sun setting at about ten this time of year. A couple of smokies on the fork and a cheerful little blaze to roast 'em over.

Clear skies between rain long enough so I could mow the front lawn and start shoveling the pine needles out of the drive in preparation to get some cars running.

Started and warmed up the old GMC and took her around the block a few times. Need to rebuild the Rochester 2GC I swapped in for the dead EFI, as the Chinee needle and gaskets I used last time have all turned to goo.

Now deciding whether to put another "offshore" garbage kit in her for a couple more years, or try to find a US-made NOS kit (for 4 times the price) that will probably outlast me.

I've had REALLY good experiences with kits from Mike's Carburetor Parts and their made in U.S.A. kit prices have been VERY competitive.

But life goes on...

I'm also very sad to hear that, Bill. Hopefully the situation will change for the better and you'll be able to set up stakes out here in the west...

Well, Last Monday, had another Eval for the V.A.

I've been trying to increase my Disability Percentage due to health issues stemming from my service. Yesterday I found out that the increase has been approved on my third try in 8 years. I did not expect such a fast answer, since the V.A. normally moves at the speed of Bureaucracy. But, the Dr. who performed the Eval did tell me, that he had final say-so and that his recommendations were usually followed. It seems they were, and very quickly. He did tell me that there has been a major push to clear a backlog of Disability Claims that are pending in the system.

Going from 10% to 80%. This will help keep the lights on.

I'm grateful for it.

Earlier this week one of my brother-in-laws took possession of his mom's 2016 Equinox. I asked what was the plans for his 2005 Trailblazer? He said since it has 225,000 miles, the AC started to blow warm air and the frame is starting to rust out. He opted to junk it. His mechanic told him not to make any high dollar repairs to it because of the frame issue, that it would be a waste of money. I don’t see it as a big of issue as he does. IMO just about anything can be repaired. If not, I paid nothing for it. So whatever i put into it, I'm still ahead. I put in a can of freon and the AC is blowing cold air again. The interior has no tears, rips or stains. It really just needs a good washing and a waxing.

Mike, it looks pretty sharp for a 9 year car. Hopefully you can figure a workaround for the frame.

My Dad's Silverado is 18 years old, but rust free. These Older Chevies are good trucks.

The Equinox he took over is a 9 year old vehicle. The Trailblazer I got is a 20 year old vehicle. But I'm still tickled about getting it. Shucks, no car payments is a win in my book any day. I have a 1994 silverado short bed that's been sitting for an extended period of time that I need to get running again. As long as the Trailblazer holds up till the Silverado is up and running, I'll be happy.

I'm off from work today but tomorrow is the final day for school and a half a day at that. I'll be off next week and heading out of town for a couple of days of R&R. A week from next Monday is when the summer camp that my company is under contract with starts.
