That's great news Carl as my brother passed at age 54 eleven years ago. May your brother have many more and healthy birthdays.

Thanks Nick

Carl,

That is great news.... he a modeler too or no? Wish him a happy happy from all of us here, modeler or not!

He was a great builder and gave it up in his 20's but have not got him back into it. Still trucking...

Good luck on your quitting smoking Stephen as it is a tough road ahead, but it's the way to go. I've been smoke-free for 30+ years and "I'm lovin' it."

I can agree as i have been quit for 21 years. I just quit cold turkey...

I was pleased today as I got a $25 discount for renewing my drivers license at the DMV today. Guess it was the "seniors discount." LOL! My wife renewed hers today also, but it'll be a few years before she get's that kind of a deal. We both had to take the vision test, but we moved through the process pretty quickly, and out the door in a short amount of time. We then went to Portillo's for lunch. I want to do a cruise night tonight, but the weather looks "iffy" AGAIN, oh well.

Sure Nick, make me feel bad that you were able to have Portillo's. Darn it! But all is not lost. The very 1st Portillo's in Florida opens 2016 in Tampa. We already have it planned to go for lunch and bring home several pounds of frozen beef & gravy. I can't wait.

I used to chew Nicorette (?) chewing gum when I first quit smoking, and after awhile it tasted so bad that I didn't want the gum or the ciggies. Whenever I go to a doctors office and they ask me if I smoke, I look at them as if they're nutz.

So far so good....chewed about 6 packs of (sugar free :P ) gum,but smoke free :D

Keep on going! I took my wife to a post surgery doctors visit today, the first time out of the house in three weeks since her heart surgery. The doctor remarked that the reason why her lungs are healed (one lung is deflated during surgery to create the room to get in to operate. It takes quite a beating) is that she's not a smoker. He said it takes smokers twice as long to recover... double that again for fat smokers!

a "true" hobbyist find............ SOMEONE (I have no idea who) pretty much "JUNKED" a hobby, Central Machinery 8 inch Shear/Brake, might have been used, ONCE! Sat it along the road, with a table and some chairs that had a sign that said "FREE"............ I only took the brake! Its red so it stuck out in a crowd like a sore thumb!

Needs a little cleaning up, but it WORKS!

Tom-I believe it,my friend (and if I'm not really careful,I'll become a fat used-to-smoker,LOL,with the munchie's I've had....more gum! :P ),and prayers being sent over your family/wife,my friend :)

High Octane--LOL,I tried that stuff (Nicorette) the other time I tried to quit, nasty :P When I say I'm chewing gum,I mean Trident,LOL

I did end up smoking 2 cigs today (used to smoke 25-40 per day),but as I sit here winding down for the night I have no cravings for "one before bed",so I'm counting it a good day despite slipping twice. On to tomorrow... :)

Back in the shop after two days my brother had another mild heart attack and ended up in hospital on Tuesday and Wednesday but they think he just needs a change in meds and no more stints right now he already has 21 and 5 bypasses but he seemed pretty good this morning so we worked for a little while and got my 55 nomad painted so far she looks good and wicked.

I heard from an old friend from about 25 years ago who moved to FL. It was great to catch up on each others news over those years. Nothing like good, old friends.

Awesome,Wayne! :D

Did decent today, not in bed yet but only smoked one half of 1 cig today :)

A couple things (out of many) that pleased me today,my son (who'd drug around an dflunked 7th grade after discovering boobies,LOL) officially passed summer school with all 90+ socres, moves on to the 8th grade like he was supposed to,LOL! Also, the mailman delivered a pair of AMT Fruehauf trailer kits (flatbed and van kits),so now I have 8 tractors to build and three trailers to swap out amongst em

Aside from those things,I'm always pleased when I wake up not dead, and the wife and kids (and dog) are still here, and it's still my own place that isn't the underside of a bridge .....I'm just a thankful kinda person who tries not take things for granted (I do get irked sometimes tho, just ask my wife  )

Man, if you can stay smoke free, doctor told me you will have some cravings with nicotine in your system when its gone it gets easier. I chewed bubble gum and had a bunch of lollipops and it does help.

Had a regular 4 month check up today. Lost another 2 lbs..... down to 227. BP is perfect 120 over 80 (the medication works). I'm good to go for hopefully a few more miles.

^ Sounds great, Richard. Keep it up.

Client on the '47 Caddy came in yesterday, loved everything and paid his monthly billing. Though I'm building the car on my own, I'm working as a subcontractor to the shop that the client was referred to...hence, I don't get paid 'til the shop gets paid.

Today I got paid. Yippee.
