NJJeff Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Finished up the build this afternoon. Despite all the issues along the way, I'm pleased with it. Thanks for checking it out. Next up, a Camaro Pro Mod......
nitro norman Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Beautiful model ! Really like the paint. Would you mind telling me the brand of paint, and did you clear coat over the decals? I take it that this is the present day nostalgia version of this car. Regardless you did a great job.
NJJeff Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Thanks Nitro Norman, the body was painted with Tamiya cans. Camel Yellow, then Clear Orange, then Pearl Clear. After the decals, I sprayed it with Tamiya clear, which promptly attacked the decals....the whole story is in the On the Workbench area. I ended up using Testors clear to finish it. It's my interpretation of how the car appeared in '82. I just used some reference photos from the net. It's far from perfect, but. I just build for the enjoyment of recreating cars I remember watching at the local tracks here. If I get too wrapped up in technical accuracy, it gets too frustrating, that's just me.
Brudda Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 The Thing about funny cars is it takes real talent to build these cars, everything exposed, all details to see. This is a very fine job of a great build. great job and a job well done.
AZ Boy Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Wow, Jeff! That came out beautifully!! Real nice detailing and the paint and decal work is top shelf. Congratulations!

DeeCee Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 I am not a drag car builder, BUT, that is such a nice looking build, great detail on the engine/chassis etc, and a stunning paint/decal job too. Love it mate.
NJJeff Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Thanks guys, I appreciate all the kind comments. I'm new to the site, and am really enjoying the work I see displayed here. It's easy to get inspired looking at all the fantastic builds here. Tons of tips and help as well.
Maxicoop Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Jeff, that has to be one of the most beautiful old funny cars I've see ..... you did a fantastic job .....details are great and the paint is unreal ....... keep on building !!!!!!
W-409 Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Yep that's a really nice Funny Car. You did a great job with the paint and decals. I think it always look the best when there is a clear coat over the decals, just like here. Incredible engine detailing too, it looks like you could fire it up any moment.
