Classic Bowie, of course. B)

Yep, you got it ? Space Oddity has got to be my favorite song by Bowie.

Here's an obscure one by a pretty well known group....

Well, who you think you're foolin'?

You say you're having fun,

but You're really going nowhere,

Just lying in the Sun....

Here's another by the same group...

Though you feel that your life's become a catastrophe, oh it has to be,

for you to grow. Boy.....

and when you look through the years and see what you could have been, oh what you might have been,

if you had had more time....

That would be Supertramp:  Child of Vision and Take the Long Way Home.

You guys will never guess this one.......

You awaken with a start, with just the beating of your heart,

Just one man beneath the sky, just to live is just too wise.......

I had to look it up for certain, but it sounded vaguely familiar.

"Childhood's End" by Pink Floyd.

It was from the "Obscured by Clouds" album in '72 and was the last song to be entirely composed by David Gilmour until after the band's break up.

Here's one from one of my favorite bands from the late '70s.

They completely lost me in the '80s. <_<

"You're feeling cross and wavy, on the edge of the cuff.

You're pushing and popping, you can't get enough.

You wish that it was over, you never slow down.

You're looking for kicks, there's nothing around."

I have a few but ill start with something easy (if you live in Canada that is)

That night in Toronto
With its checkerboard floors
Riding on horseback
And keeping order restored
'Til The Men They Couldn't Hang
Stepped to the mic and sang
And their voices

to me, it seems like to me that there is a lot of people outside of Canada who don't know this band, there a pretty good band although they are played to death over here.

and finally,

Lightning crash on the hill tonight (yeah)
I got a feeling everything's gonna be all right
Then a horse came running to me
Said we're gonna go to the sanctuary
Then a storm began to blow

Duh nuh nuh na nuh nuh

Well now, it’s nice to see a Wolfmother song in this thread. Dimension from their self-titled album.

Here’s an interesting alternative rock song...

Call you up in the middle of the night

Like a firefly without a light

You were there like a blowtorch burning

I was a key that could use a little turning

I have a feeling i know this song, but i cant put my finger on it.

I think the song is called "Runaway Train" because the chorus goes something like "runaway train never go back" something like that, but I don't actually know the name of the band.

You are correct! The song is called Runaway Train by Soul Asylum. It was pretty high up on the charts when it was released. It even topped the Canada Top Singles chart for a bit in 1993-94.

That explains why I know it. I'm curious to see if anyone gets the other two I put up. As for that last song you posted above I'd say you stumped me.
