MOON BEAST!

The Moon Beast will be an Open Wheel, 2000 HP Exhibition Drag Racing Monster! The main Body & Chassis parts for the Moon Beast come from Monograms Baja Beast.

The 12 Cylinder Allison Airplane Engine is from an AMT Parts Pack. It is chrome plated now, but not for long...

The name Moon Beast was inspired by the Slixx Moooneyes Decals I just got on Ebay.

First Thing!

I soaked the Chrome Engine Parts in Purple Power. In a few hours the Chrome was gone. Next I sprayed on a couple of coats of DupliColor Grey Filler/Primer.

Then I glued the Engine Halves together.

Body Lines!

I decided to do a Simple Section on the Body. I started by applying 1 inch wide tape around the Body, running along the Body's Center Line.

I drew the lines along the bottom of the tape. Then I removed the tape.

I also want to reduce the width of the Body by about 1 inch. So I applied tape right down the center of the Body.

I drew a line on each side of the tape. Then I removed the tape.

Uh-oh Ira's at it again!!

Here's a tip: you can use bleach to strip chrome in less than a minute, although it doesn't take off the layer under the chrome and over the plastic, primer will take care of that, but make sure you wash it!

First Cuts!

I cut the Spoiler and lower front end off in one piece. I used a Razor saw to make the cuts.

Next I cut out the front and rear ends. Then I cut the section out of the roof.

I cut the bottom sides off next.

That looks like a super project , Ira !

I've been wanting to get one of those VW Bus kits again ( I had both issues as a kid ; the yellow one and the red one ) . I'd like to stick the 8V-71 Detroit in-place of the kit's SBC ...
