WOW!!This is cool, Ira. You are doing a great job with it. Imagination is definitely your sidekick.

It kinda looks like the coolest and fastest hero sandwich on the planet. :)

I dunno- that doesn't match the box art. You must have put something together wrong...

Ira, this is really looking neat. I can imagine this one as an article in Car Model magazine, so many years ago. Probably in two or three issues. Thanks :) !

Circles & Squares!

I started by drawing several Circles on the Rear Pan. These are markers for Cooling Holes.

Next I drilled a small hole in the center of each hole. I enlarged the holes with an X-Acto Knife and then a little larger with a small reamer.

I cut out 4 Squares of plastic strip and glued them in place as shown. These are the cross members that support the engine.

I was just wondering what had happened to this! Now I know. :D

How will the driver get in and out? (I know, there isn't really a driver, it's a model - but you know what I mean!)

Thanks Don!

The Body would be hinged in the back so the front would lift up, like a Funny Car... B)

Have you ever driven a real VW bus ? they're tough to get used to because you're sitting forward of the steering , this'd be like being strapped on the tip of a rocket and trying to steer with a rudder ... hahahahha AWESOME !!!

Thanks Dan!

Yes I have driven a VW Bus, Fun Times. That's why the front axle will be moved forward and the rear axle has been moved back. The wheelbase is much longer than the stock Van...

Engine for the Beast!

I sprayed the Big Engine with Tamiya Camel Yellow. Then I brushed on some Silver, front and back.

Next I brushed on a Black Water base Wash, The Detailer. I will wipe off some of the Wash later with a wet Q-Tip.

Here is the Engine, almost complete now.

After a little trimming, I got the Engine fit back into the Frame. Unfortunately the Chrome wiped off. I'll paint it later...

Cut it Out!...with a Drill?

I decided to turn the Van into a Bus! I'm going to cut out side windows, through which you can see the Engine.

DSCN5601M_zpsa50206a6.jpg

Here is the Funny Part. I cut out the Windows with a Drill Bit. I drilled a hole then pulled the Bit along the Line and it cut through as easy as can be...

I used an X-Acto Knife and Sanding Boards to clean up the window lines.

Here is a quick mock-up to show how the Engine can be seen through the windows...
