funhouse1 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Horrible kit that, thanks to the legendary "rightness" of the Jo-Han body's proportions, builds in to good looking shelf model right out of the box.
Maxicoop Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 super nice lookin' 300 !!!!!!!!!!! Another classic !!!!!!!!!!! fantastic build !!!!!!!!!!!
TooOld Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Yep , it looks very good right out of the box and your's looks excellent ! Great job !
impcon Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 That really looks great!!! You just gotta love those old Johan kits..
unclescott58 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Looks great to me! I love those old JoHan kits. The engine and chassis detail may not be the best. But the bodies and interiors always build into nice looking models. Scott
peekay Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Beautiful!!! I certainly don't think it's a horrible kit and I would suggest that your build proves that. Johan got the important bits just right.
Krazy Rick Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Very nice & super clean Jack -what a classic !!
jefropas Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Looks great! I'd love to convert one into a CHP Enforcer oneday.... Jeff
FordRodnKustom Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Beautiful job. You really brought out the best in that kit. Well done!
Shardik Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Nice color, nice finish, nice foil work and a nice clean build. The panel lines, however, look just a tad over done to me; maybe its just the camera.
Mopar - D Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Jack nice build on your 62 Chyrsler 300.
Harry P. Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Horrible kit that, thanks to the legendary "rightness" of the Jo-Han body's proportions, builds in to good looking shelf model right out of the box. If it builds into a good looking shelf model, how is it a "horrible" kit? Yours looks fantastic, except for the black panel lines. Notice how the "real" panel lines (the hood) are nowhere near solid black? The door and trunk lines shouldn't be black either. BTW... love the avatar.
Snake45 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Very nice! What's the paint? I'm looking for a color like that for a couple builds.
Sixties Sam Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Nice, clean build of one of my favorite Mopars! Good work! Sam
funhouse1 Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 Thanks for the kind words!! Johann and Harry I gotta' agree, the india ink was a failed experiment! As for the horrible kit business, it had tons of flash, sketchy chrome, incorrect interior with the faintest of engraving, not to mention the promo chassis and rudimentary engine... However when you get the body right it does seem to overshadow the shortcomings. I wish I had a warehouse full of Jo-Hans... S. Mesner, the paint was Model Master Citrus Yellow (I know, looks pretty green to me too) which I think was discontinued? I painted this thing years ago.
ChrisBcritter Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) I wouldn't say "horrible" for the most part; maybe "simplified"... except for the typical flat Jo-Han wheelcovers; I've been patiently watching eBay for wheelcovers from the Revell '62 Chrysler Newport which are correctly shaped.
