Cool little car. You have a lot of work in front of you.

I've owned a couple of these over the eons and have done just about everything imaginable to them.

Feel free to ask questions, as I'm still in the resto business (and have been off and on for over 40 years).

Very cool! Have you done the Pyro/Lindberg model of it?

As of now, I'm attempting to find one. When the 1:1 is done, it's going to look like this.

If I can, I'd like to find TWO of those Lindberg kits and make a before and an after.

Even though currently this thing is a bit of a heap, I love it. Sometimes I just go out and sit by it, pop the hood, brush the pine needles off of it.

Just so you're not surprised or disappointed: It's a pretty bad kit. Prolly why you don't see them built that often. I've considered chopping the roof off mine and making a straight Spitfire out of it.

When I was a kid, I had an Aurora Spitfire in 1/32 that went together easily and looked pretty accurate. Shame that's not available anymore.

BTW, when I was a kid, I thought the Spitfire was one of the coolest cars around. In high school I had a friend who had an MGB I rode in once, which was enough for me. Later, on the far side of 25, I had a girlfriend who drove an MG Midget. I could barely squeeze myself into the passenger seat, and I'm not what you'd call a big guy. I drove it once and it was a major PITA getting in and out of it. That kinda cured me of all desire to ever own a little Brit sport car.

Oh, BTW, your sheet styrene care package is in the mail. B)

personally I would prefer to have an MGB-GT, Spitfires seem like the british version of a ford pinto...not that there's anything wrong with Spitfire's or Pinto's, just a personal preference.

I currently have a TR4 that has been kitbashed..er I mean "car-bashed" with a Merc Bobcat. It's much more reliable and fun to drive (when it's not 105-F outside).

No matter which one, they all get rusty.

yeah, funny that...considering how wet most of Britain is.

That's not true! It's mostly dry land, except for the bit on the surface that the rain hits... Edited by DonW

Super cool project. Gotta be tough finding replacement parts for those things though...

I wish my school had an automotive class back when I was in high school. I had to learn on my own, as money allowed, to buy the tools to learn. Kinda wish I went in to automotive instead of I.T.
