This is the Heller release of the Bugatti T.50. When I opened the kit, I found that the body was missing. I wrote Heller and they shipped me a new body, but it arrived broken in five pieces. After a bit of bodywork, I got started on the rest of the build. That's when I noticed that the chrome tree was missing. Once again, I wrote and waited. It arrived unbroken, but the chrome was not very well done. I ended up stripping the chrome and used Alclad. The fit on alot of the parts was not exact, so it took a bit of finessing to get it together. The body is sitting all the way down on the chassis, but it still sits a bit high. The car is finally complete, but I'm not sure if I want to try another Heller car model or not. Here's the pics:\

With windows all around, it was tough getting a pic of the interior, but here's what I ended up with

Your persistence paid off with a very nice model! I've been looking at these on eBay but haven't taken the plunge. Sounds like you got a lemon but made lemonade, congrats!

The Airfix T50 is one and the same Heller kit. It was marketed under the Airfix name when both companies were owned by Borden Holdings who also had Humbrol under their wing. The Heller Bugatti EB110 was also re popped under the Airfix banner.

That looks like Heller's 1/35 version. Their 1/24 is far more detailed and accurate. I have the 1/24 but haven't built it because i've heard it's very difficult. Nice build in such a small scale, though.

I've seen a couple of sports / racer Bugattis in 1:32, but not aware of a T50 in 1:35 scale from any source. 99% certain that this one is Heller's 1:24 kit (also re-boxed by Airfix and Gunze) - an Airfix re-box of the 1:24 Heller was one of the first models that I built when I took up this hobby ten years ago. Not a tricky kit to build, but needs lots of care with parts alignment (especially the rear suspension to avoid it sitting too tail down).
