Maybe a little gaudy, but I could live with it. It has an alternate-reality Art-Deco-of-the-future look I really like.

The front reminds me of the Audi R8, the rest makes me think "Batnan, The Animated Series".

It's a bit over the top for most people's taste, but I like it. Heck, if you tossed me the keys, I'd have a blast charging around town (obeying traffic laws, lol.).

I think if I was Frank Stephenson I'd have asked them to take the McLaren name and logo off it... it's kind of cool in an art deco movie prop way, as Bill says, but it's really not a McLaren design, is it?

I guess it's as much a McLaren as a one-off custom body on a Ferrari chassis, say by Scaglietti or Pininfarina, would still be a Ferrari.

Or this supposedly Abarth-bodied '53 Ferrari 166 MM...

It's definately got a "Modern Art Deco" look to it......still not sure if that's good or bad though, I'm leaning towards the latter.
