jefropas Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I know we have most of the years covered well for the ol Charger, even MPC covered the 70' really nicely, but those few kits that survive are so expensive, very few can afford them. Has anyone heard any rumors on a new 1970, or am I gonna have to get old(er) waiting to afford one? I just think a 1970 kit presents the greatest chance for using some great paint colors.... Thanks. Jeff
gtx6970 Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I'm keeping my fingers crossed Revell modifies the current tool to do a 1970,,,sooner than later
Guest Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Seems like a natural choice for Revell to do since they already have a complete chassis and drivetrain already tooled up. I've always preferred the look of the '70 over the '68 and '69.
Tom Geiger Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I don't believe anything is planned right now, but as the manufacturers keep surprising us with new product aimed at us baby boomers, anything is possible! It does have Revell all over it since it would fit right into their line, and onto an existing tool. But I wouldn't be surprised if Moebius swooped in with one. Ya never know! In the meantime, I understand that original kits are pricey, but maybe you could find a rebuildable car that could be combined with the Revell chassis and fitting for a car with the detail we demand today. Also check into resin bodies. Anyone doing a 1970 conversion for that Revell chassis?
Bob Ellis Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Revell did the diecast Bullet Charger. Maybe that is why they started with 68/69?
1972coronet Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 An all-new tooling would be the best route , as that dinosaur-age MPC tooling is soooooooo worn out (not to mention its incorrect 8.75" rear with the Hemi / 4 speed , and just a general lack of details...). 1970 was the first year that the Charger could be had with a true bench seat , too . Would be nice to see a newly-tooled '70 XP29 or XS29 with seating options ... and a sun roof !
unclescott58 Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 '70 is my favorite year for the second gen Charger too. I would love to see Revell do a '70 Charger R/T (please no sunroof like suggested above). At the same time, I'd be happy to see Round 2 reissue the old MPC Kit. Scott
Greg Myers Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Revell did the diecast Bullet Charger. Maybe that is why they started with 68/69? Maybe
Bob Ellis Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Not so much the old MPC Round2 Charger tool is tired, but it suffered great mutilation as a NASCAR K&K Insurance race car. When it came back as Duke's Charger it still had Charger 500 roof. Maybe it could be fixed. Wonder if the '70 parts still exist. Like the correct interior.
High octane Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I've got a line on a '70 Charger kit, and I'm waiting to see how it pans out. If not, I have plenty of other kits to keep me amused.
Nova-ss Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I as well would love to get my hands on a 70 Charger. I was told that the MPC version _as the only one to get.I know I like that one the best.
Guest Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I hate to bring it up. But, wasn't the Fast&Furious '70 Charger that AMT/RC2 put out years ago a modified version of the MPC '70?
iangilly Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Revell did a metal f&f charger that was okay. Mpc is the best example, but as it was stated the tooling is long been modified as the Daytona. Revell has a 70 grill and they have the diecast molds.

CJ1971 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 You just never, ever know which manufacture might bring one out.,. Only thing I'll say is... Sooner or later there will be one ??
GMP440 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I beleive we will see the 70 Charger R/T come out. That would be a big seller. I hope we will also see the 68 Coronet R/T come out too. I don't know if Round 2 or Moebius realize that if these two get produced, the kit sales would be tremendous for both,
iangilly Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 68 coronet and 70 charger are two of my most wanted cars. Original mpc ones are just too expensive for the amount of times I want to build them.
chitownbri Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 the amt f&f charger was basically the general lee kit with a somewhat 70ish looking grille on it. i hope revell gives us a proper '70 with plenty of options.
jefropas Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 There are still plenty of gaps in the late 60's to early 70's Mopar stable, hopefully they will get filled.... Jeff
High octane Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 The '68 Dodge Coronet R/T is available from Modelhaus and looks really good. I hope to start on mine one of these days soon.
Sport Suburban Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Modelhaus also offered a resin copy of the MPC 70 Charger, I think it is still available. I have built one of them. Missing Link also offered a 70 Charger based on the much nicer Revell tool and it looked awesome. I don't know if it is still availible.
kevin Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I did offer a 70 r/t or base conversion less then a year ago for 65.00, based on the revell kit, the mold died.
highway Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 the amt f&f charger was basically the general lee kit with a somewhat 70ish looking grille on it. i hope revell gives us a proper '70 with plenty of options. Yes, but they did also modify the previously mentioned 500 rear window into the standard rear window.
darquewanderer Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 (edited) Go on http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/ scroll down and vote, then maby there will be. You can find a direct link here to the '70 Charger R/T. http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/3023/ currently there's 674 votes, but this is for a new development, but converting one by Revell is still the better option. A second '70 Charger 500 is here http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/2941/ Currently 650 votes. starting at the top will take about 20 minutes to scroll down thru. Worth it. Lots of old Mopars, Phords, and Shevys. Old foreign stuff, as well as, aircraft, ships, tanks, sci-fi and more. And you can vote for more than one. Just go and vote.
