Looking forward to this kit and getting back to the workbench!

My only "concern" if you will is that if the plastic is prepainted, especially red, you need to be careful to avoid bleeding. That is the red plastic showing thru primer and color coat.

This kit looks good. It reminds me of the C6R kit: A simple non-intimidating kit for everyone, but at the same time a good foundation for letting loose and running wild....

Thanks!

Keep in mind the prepainted kits have bodies that are prePAINTED, not just molded in color. If you decided to paint over the paint presuming you didn't cause a catastrophic reaction, you'd more than likely obliterate the details.

I'd say hang out and wait. Revell is releasing a molded in "blank" white with real decals version of the ZL-1 Camaro. The Corvette is an even bigger "no brainer" for that treatment, especially if no full detail kit is in the pipeline.

I've been away from the hobby for a while so I'm not up to speed on news.

Any updates on this kit? The promos were finally released. I assume the tooling is the same....

Thanks,

The pre-painted glue kit maybe might come out next month. But the way Revell's various releases have been delayed (especially the new tool stuff) nothing is in concrete until they put out the monthly ship list.

Judging by the colors on the other pre painted kits, and the photos of the box I would bet that the 'Vette will be released in the "Tint Red" color, it appears that this is a three stage color from Chev with a metallic red base, a transparent red (thus "tint red") and a clear top coat. I've seen a couple of C-7s in this color and it's fantastic, it is a very deep appearing Candy Red.

It is a very slick color, hope it does come out in it.

Any update on this release?

I've seen closeup and detail shots of the promos. Are the promos based on this mold? If so, I'm a bit underwhelmed, in the tail lights and vents....

Thanks,

Revell Germany have this:

07060-2014-Corvette-Stingray-C7-400x205.

down as an August release. They don't say anything about snap together or pre-finished (and they do have a separate range of 1/25 "Simply Snap" kits listed), so I'm hoping that their release will be a regular kit...

Anyone know any more?

bestest,

M.

As the August release is listed at on Model Roundup, I think it will be a regular molded in color (mustard) Snap Tite..same price point as the Boxster Snap Tite reissue. The 2nd issue coming later (been shown in red) will be the pre-paint, i believe (Tower Hobbies is showing this as late September).

I have tried removing paint from Revell Chinese kits. It is very stubborn.

If kit production ever leaves China, I lean towards Viet Nam. Like the sneakers are already doing now.

Question for Tim, Gerry, Bob and those who has seen the Revell parts board display of this model: Do you have any pics or recall how the tail lights and the back of the model are?

I ask because I'm trying to establish if the promo is related to this, but the chassis in the promo is completely different to what is shown in these pics. The promo is held together by 2 screws in the centerline of the almost flat chassis. That would suggest the body mold itself is different. It also seems the promo doesn't even have brakes.

Could it be that the promo is made by somebody else?

Thanks!

Here are the test shot photos of the SNAP C7 I took just before IHOBBY Last year. You can compare to the photos of the test shot prefinished version in the first post. I see several similarities, but they are different molds. Revell indicated there was a broad market for the C7.

Revell also indicated a C7R would most likely be done before a Z06 or convertible, but all plans were not finalized and what will actually show up is not known by me. I am happy with anything they are willing to share, but also must respect confidences. I also get photos or info on kits that I have no interest in so that those who are will be informed.

THANK YOU!!!

I'm getting convinced that the promo is not related to Revell at all.

C7R? Thank you Revell for getting me back into the hobby :)

Thanks,

As I said, that was their thinking, not a firm business plan. Hope it comes to pass. Although I would prefer a street C7 Z06

I know.

I'm just happy to hear they even mention it.

Z06 and C7R would be nice. I don't know how successful it was in sales, but I loved the C6R kit philosophy: easy enough for the casual builder, child or beginner, but good enough to be used as a foundation for a great project.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I wonder if the promos are related to Round 2 since they did the most recent C6 promos...

I have both the 2014 and 2015 Corvette promos, and neither Revell nor AMT appear on the boxes. It appears as though Len is correct since the bottom of the window boxes have "ivy promo.com" printed.

Interesting... I went to the Ivy Promotions site, and they have pictures of promos (C5 Corvettes and Camaros) and list a number of '10-12 C5 Corvettes.  I wonder if the tooling is sourced from DoAllSer or something like that..the company that Round 2 got the tooling from for the Snap Corvettes, Challengers and Camaros of the last few years...

Here's Ivy Promotions promo page.. http://ivypromo.com/PromotionalItems.aspx?categoryid=6

I've been wondering the same thing Rob. I'd love to find out since the company I normally buy my promos from folded this year as the owner unfortunately  passed away so I have no supplier now to obtain any new promos that might be released.

I also have no clue why my response above appears as a quote instead of a normal response. ?
