Roadrunner Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) After hearing me whine about all of the WNW Fokker D.VII's being sold out now, someone took pity on my old self, and sent me this OAW version, brand new in the box, no charge. Edited January 21, 2016 by Roadrunner
Agent G Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Good score you little Fokker.....................................G
Roadrunner Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Well thanks, G, I appreciate it. Some AM decals, Master Spandaus, and I'm all set. At this point, I think I have every book out there on the D.VII's, so I have gobs of references.
Roadrunner Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Obviously not automobile related, but certainly hobby related. I’ve long been fascinated by WWII German U-Boats, and have been collecting the “U-Boot im Focus” series since volume #1, and now the 11th and 12th volumes have just been given to me by myself as a belated Christmas gift (an annual tradition with me). The addition of these two volumes, now brings the complete series up to date for me. I’m a happy pup!
Roadrunner Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I'm pleased silly to finally have this book arrive, great reference for German armor. I have precious few Ryton publications, but those that I do have are all outstanding, and this book should be no exception. This particular volume covers three of the German WWII heavies, Ferdinand/Elephant, King Tiger and,... the Jagdtiger, my favorite beast of the lot. I'm a happy pup!
SfanGoch Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 The Ryton books are fantastic references, Kevin. "Tiger I & Sturmtiger in Detail" and "Schutzenpanzerwagen in Detail" are also "must haves"

I remember when I lived outside of Chicago many years ago going in the German U boat at the museum. The U 505 was there. Don't know if it is still on display or not. I believe it was the only German sub captured in WW 2. I could be wrong about that.
mustang1989 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 (edited) Nice score on the book and the Fokker Kevin! Some say I'm crazy for getting it but I just love this spacecraft and there's really no other halfway affordable version I can think of than in this scale that's worth a dang. So I just had to have the Revell re-release of the Fine Molds kit to use as a platform. Don't worry, my wife admitted for me that I'm nuts.....My son wanted this..... (upon opening it I should have known it was a bit more than he could handle but it's going to safe keeping for now) Edited March 3, 2016 by mustang1989

"Tiger I & Sturmtiger in Detail" and "Schutzenpanzerwagen in Detail" are also "must haves"The Schützenpanzer book is the next one I'd really prefer to have, but I may have to skip it for now, as I can't find it for under $75. I'll probably grab the Stürmgeschutz book next instead, and I already have the Tiger/Sturmtiger book.I remember when I lived outside of Chicago many years ago going in the German U boat at the museum. Yep, still there, They finally have it indoors now though, built a building around it in fact.

I have quite a few decent books on the Sd.Kfz series, but the Ryton book would be the cream of the crop, I'd imagine.
SfanGoch Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 It's a really good book, Kevin. Oodles of 3-view drawings and photos. If you aren't familiar with it, you might like to check out Piet Van Hees' excellent Sd.Kfz. 251 site.

Sometime this year, I'll be snatching the Dragon kit with the rocket launchers slung on the side. That vehicle is just too neat.
Roadrunner Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 (edited) Just arrived in the mail yesterday (review sample), the Kinetic 1:24 P-47 Razorback Thunderbolt (from VFS molds). Edited March 19, 2016 by Roadrunner
LDO Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 (edited) One each of three different Williams Brothers 1/32 racing planes from the 1930s; Gee Bee Z, Gee Bee R, Cauldron 450/460, Hall Bulldog, and Laird Super Solution. LHS had them at 30% off. I got a better deal on all five. Edited March 19, 2016 by LDO
Roadrunner Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 These just arrived in the mail today (review samples), six sets of Zotz 1:32 F-4 Phantom II decals. Now I need to buy a case of 1:32 Tamiya Phantoms!
Roadrunner Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 My latest, a 1:32 Tamiya Mustang, and what an impressive model it is. I'll be doing it as an Iwo Jima based machine, my all-time favorite Mustang. Kit compliments of a fellow forum member (different forum).

Harry P. Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Technically didn't get this today, but 2-3 weeks ago. And I posted a full-blown WIP on it...
Roadrunner Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 I am OFFICIALLY jealous !!!!! I have been wanting one of these kits since it was released. Nice score!! It's an awesome kit. I've went ahead and done a full review as well (for another site). It was an especially nice gift to receive, and quite unexpected. I've already purchased some Barracude 'pit upgrades for it, and will be buying more stuff for sure. I've had the decals for the particular machine I'm wanting to do for some time now, so some more resin and canopy masks (and Alclad), and I'll be ready to go. With any luck at all, I'll be taking the finished model to Omaha in 2017 for the IPMS nationals.
Agent G Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 This was delivered while I was back in the Midwest. G

Roadrunner Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 (edited) A good buddy decided that he'll never build this, so he gave it to me. It's certainly a classic, and I look forward to tackling it this winter. Edited May 21, 2016 by Roadrunner
