So when are you posting the video of the start up and scale burnout? This is incredible Joe and I'm kinda sad to see it nearly done, but I know that means another one is coming up!!

Note to all Monogram Challenger builders: If you need any parts............. please see Brodie or myself!!!! LOL LOL

I'll certainly keep that in mind. Now that I traded all my parts, I'll probably mess something up and require replacements.

I really like the way the front end looks. I'm wresting with how to deal with the same issues, and I've grabbed a couple of ideas from your effort here.

Thanks Riley! See the 56 Ford F-100 thread in the light truck workbench section! :D

Kevin: Thanks man! I've gotcha covered if you need any parts. As far as your front end, take the posts that you cut off and glue 'em in the head light bucket holes to fill the holes. I filled the bottoms with super glue and painted chrome silver over all of it to smooth it out.

Doug: Thanks bud! Fun??!! Actually..................it was!

Carl: Me too....me too!

I took care of the ejector pin marks on the bottom of the hood yesterday and primed it again today.

After priming the hood yesterday I shot the hood with semi gloss black this morning. Two things: 1.) I always seem to get exactly one speck of dust right smack dab in the middle of whatever I'm painting. (really not that big of a deal but gotta wait on the hood paint to cure out now) and 2.) the semi gloss black turned out to be a very glossy black. I will go back over it later with a semi gloss acrylic that will surely fix this. With any luck she'll be Under Glass by next week.

Joe when I work with flats and semi-gloss paints I mostly use Tamiya.. wait for it... wait for it.... yes their lacquer in the spay cans.. Their semi-gloss black can lacquer is a true semi-gloss black. Their acrylic has almost always ended up a little too glossy. Don't be afraid of the fact its a spay can.. It goes on pretty darn smooth just like their flat colors do. And they dry in almost minutes. If you decide to try it, don't spray it over acrylics or regular enamels though, or it will crack. You'll want to strip the hood and start with a bare primed part. But you'll like the end result. It will give you the look your after. If you choose to stay with the acrylic on your hood, try tamiya's flat black acrylic, it will be closer to a semi-gloss black than it is to a actual flat black. Don't know why their acrylics work out that way, but test paint a couple pieces of scrap plastic or spoons and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks Jim! I actually used Testors Semi Gloss Black from a spray can. It went on really smooth alright but with an ultra shine to it. I've got an idea in the makin's. I'll be wet sanding it to get that speck out of it after its cured out and then shooting a coat of semi gloss clear acrylic over it through the airbrush. I'll see what happens from there. :D

If your after something close to OE.

TA hoods were painted in Organsol. Which is a very low gloss black ( not a true flat black but very close )

And it has a texture to it. .

IMO to acheive this on your last spray past hold the can way back and just mist it on

Daniel: You're gonna get my honest opinion on the plane kits since that's my specialty........................EDUARD-----HANDS DOWN!! :D

I'd have to respectfully disagree, and say that Tamiya is the best. I'm going through this entire thread now (all 32 pages), so that I can see what you've done in certain areas, and how you've addressed certain issues.

Workin' on it fellas. That coat of semi gloss actually turned from gloss back to semi gloss in a day or so. I have to do some light sanding and smoothing out but it's coming along.
