My wife has been buying little do-dads for her crafts on the Temu app lately. She surprised me a few days ago with a handy little photo booth that she bought for me through the app....

 It's a small photo booth, only measuring 9" x 9.5" x 8.5"...

Power comes from a USB cord

(It seems a bit short, but works fine when plugged into the multi port USB charger that sits on my workbench... A free gift from AARP. LOL)

So how does it work???

By the way my wife tells my that she paid less than $4 for this.

I rode one of these in Florida a few weeks back and really wanted one for running nearby errands now I’m back home…

Segway electric scooter - hits around 15, has traction control and ABS braking (!), regenerative charging when you brake or ride downhill, super-bright head and brake lights, digital display…

Charges in 3.5 hours and has a 15 mile range or so (although not if you’ve got it cranked to flat-out mode like I have currently) and you can install a software upgrade that will give you another 10mph or so if you’re feeling brave.  Fun little summer toy!

They have had those available to rent around the Kansas City area. Keeps the Med A Vac guys busy, especially on the weekends late at night.

I was gifted a1918 Gibson L3 arch top guitar. For it's age I'd say it's about 85- 90%. Plays and sounds great. Can't stop smiling. 71 yrs. old and I got my first Gibson.

Yeah, you definitely need to watch where you’re riding - gotta dodge all the pebbles and cracks in the sidewalk for sure!

They tend to have them around an area called The Plaza and other entertainment areas around town. A little liquid courage and not being familiar with the handling is a recipe for disaster.

Enough Dynamat-like foil-backed heat barrier to cover the firewall and tunnel in the '66 Chevelle before I put the dash and console back in for the second-to-last time...

A beautiful 1952-53 steel case Zippo.

No stuck flint in it this time! Stripped it down bare, gave the insert and inside of the case a little scrub with diesel and a nylon brush, washed, lightly oiled and blown out, new wick, flint, and fuel.

Oldest in the collection so far! Maybe sometime I'll gather them all up for a family photo. Need a wider lens...

Those scooters are so cool !

I would like to get an EV bicycle myself.

BUT please be careful where you charge and store your scooter , a friend of mine bought an EV bicycle , kept in in his attached garage , some thing went wrong and it burned his house to the ground.

It’s a fairly common problem in NY now where people are burning their buildings down with those e-bikes and scooters - the MTA banned a lot of these devices from the subway too for a while (not sure if they still are…)

You’re right, they definitely require respect: https://ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/public-safety/2023/06/24/third-fire-in-four-days-breaks-out-inside-same-e-bike-shop-in-manhattan

I’ve been charging mine outside - better safe than sorry!

'96 S10 Blazer like this. 4-dr, slushbox, 2WD. One-family owned since new, all professional car people. High mileage but well maintained, clean, never wrecked.

                                        image.png.f20e09828a649c85eb3719a7a2e31652.png

I'd sworn "NO MORE CARS!!!" But my daily GMC pickup is getting really tired, and I need something useful to drive while I put the new engine in her.

The little Blazer got a new engine about 50,000 miles back, a heater core, a radiator, and all new balljoints and bushings in the front end. Drives like a new one but has minor cosmetic issues. Did I mention the owners were cool-car guys who take care of their stuff?

There is, frankly, nothing worth rolling the dice on available used in this market for what I paid. Nothing.

Sort of non-model kit related Kijiji purchase. I originally asked about some aircraft models, but was told they were spoken for. Next best was all four John Wick Blu-rays for $55. I also got an old favourite William Peterson movie, To Live and Die in L.A.  When I arrived, I was told the aircraft kits, supplies and reference books were still available, so they came home as well!

Many years ago, I was a heavy smoker and well remember some of my Zippos would leak a little fluid into the lining of my blue jeans pocket until it would start itching my leg.

I've heard tell of this, but never had it happen to me. I always give the insert a couple shakes before slipping it back into the case after a quick fuel stop.

Maybe I'll start up a little lighter thread. Very cool machines, usually easy to get working. Even if you don't like huffing darts, you should have a couple! :)

While I'm not into lighters at this point in life, I did enjoy them when I was using them. Yesterday we went to a local liquor/smoke shop to do some shopping. I noticed a display they had in the cigar area of some impressive looking lighters for sale in a locked show case. Sort of a dressy looking exteriors as opposed to the normal workday lighters. My last lighter was a butane lighter; I think it was a Ronson that I gave to a friend and coworker when I stopped smoking.

I have a couple of pocket warmers , they look like giant lighters with decorative vents cut into the sides of the top . I guess you're supposed to light them , close the lid and put them in your pocket . I have this exact one .

Getting closer to being in Az. so I can get rolling on the full-scale '32 roadster, so I bought a few new-old references for when the time comes.

Yeah, I know all I have to do is "Google it", because everything on the web is posted by genuine experts, and everything they post is 100% true and correct.

Anyway, Vern Tardel is one of the guys who actually knows what he's talking about from having done it for a long time, and I kinda like printed references I can scribble in the margins of.

And though I've been building stuff for a while myself, getting genuine correct info is just something I do on every project.

Had to buy an old-school Chinesium HSS boring bar to make a part for the '66 Chevelle on the lathe in the other shop.

Last time I had my own big machine tools set up was over 10 years ago now, and everything small, like indexable carbide cutters, is still packed from the last move.

The part I need to make is too large for my little Unimat, the Sherline would do it but it's still packed too, so the el-cheapo cutter ought to get the one part done on the shop lathe...which unfortunately needs some work before it will ever make anything nice again.

It's not good for machine tools to let non-machinists use them.
