PatW Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I was clearing out the loft recently to put some new insulation in and found this and a few other bits. It says 1977 on the box and I wouldn't be surprised if that was when I bought and built it! It was in bits mainly from neglect so I spent a week in refurb mode. The engine and separate gearbox were out as were the seats, dash, and the rear bumper and tail units had dropped off. I also cut out a very thin piece of clear plastic to make one headlight lens that had also gone adrift. I topped off the 1970's black gloss rattle can paint with a coat of AutoGlym car polish.
TooOld Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Ain't it fun when you find an old model like that ? Nice save ! That kit has a nice looking engine too , thanks for posting .
Intmd8r Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Nice work. I always liked this kit, no matter how much trouble it gave me.
PatW Posted December 9, 2014 Author Posted December 9, 2014 Thanks guys for your comments, it's a pity that classic kits like this aren't easily available in the UK. If they were I'd build more of them.
PatW Posted December 12, 2014 Author Posted December 12, 2014 Thanks Guys. Yes I'm into saving at present, I got a Tamiya Mini Cooper Rally the other day off ebay for £1.76 because it had been started but not finished!
atomicholiday Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Nice job. Always loved that kit. I've got one of those in that same box. My dad & I built it when I was just a kid. Dad painted the body and I did a typical little-kid-glue-bomb job on the rest. The paint job he did is pretty cool. I plan to restore what he did and completely redo what I did some day.
geetee66 Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Lazarus! I bet you're glad you got around to tidying the loft, now? I wish I still had some of my old models.. Nice gloss, btw
