exesivefire Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 a couple sets of Pegasus wheels and tires donated to this build today. Cut the hoops off a set for the front, and used a set of sleeves in the rear. Added some trimmed up Revell Integra wheels and this was the result. I need to strip some chrome, but I'm debating if I should just do the centers, or go with a gloss/satin black for the whole wheel.
exesivefire Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 Thanks!! Means a lot coming from a builder of your caliber. Got a bit of the chrome off, the wheels were molded in Grey, so that helps visualize for now.
Randy D Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Hi Andy, WOW !!!!!! This is one cool project. You are a talented modeler Randy
exesivefire Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 So I guess I couldn't leave well enough alone, the "old" straight 6 wasn't going to cut it anymore.. What did I do?......
exesivefire Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 (edited) Hot rod GM vortex 4200 inline 6? Sound like the right engine to me.. Edited December 22, 2014 by exesivefire
bobthehobbyguy Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 (edited) Revised engine fits the theme well. Looking forward to seeing more. Edited December 22, 2014 by bobthehobbyguy
christian-w Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 This project looks pretty cool. Will you aging the HotRod like your example on page #1 or would it be a shiny thing (related to the fine new wheels)? Looking forward to the progress.
exesivefire Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 Pretty sure everything but the body will look new, used but not to crazy weathered. The body will look like the reference, in progress.
exesivefire Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 (edited) Making progress.. Hopefully I can get it close enough that once everything is on the motor it is convincing. Started on the other side. Edited December 23, 2014 by exesivefire
1930fordpickup Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 I like what you are doing with this.
exesivefire Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 Snapped a mockup pic before work today
slusher Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Andy, how did you get the engine sides so smooth ??
exesivefire Posted December 24, 2014 Author Posted December 24, 2014 Andy, how did you get the engine sides so smooth ?? shaved them with a file then skinned it with some thing styrene. I'm at that point where I have to decide if this is working... What do you guys think? Obviously everything is just roughed out. Still need a valve cover and oil pan.
exesivefire Posted December 24, 2014 Author Posted December 24, 2014 pressing forward.. I am going to have to cut the firewall and push the engine back, I had a feeling I was going to need to, the 1:1 inspiration is sunk pretty good up under the cowl.
bobthehobbyguy Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Nice work on the engine. Looking forward to more.
bill_67 Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Andy, this is looking great. Those wheels are very nice!
exesivefire Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 Thanks guys, I'm really hoping the engine looks more at home in there moved back a little
slusher Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 I like what your doing with the engine. Looks great..
exesivefire Posted December 30, 2014 Author Posted December 30, 2014 So dimensions were bothering me a bit, everything seemed a little tall, I dig and was able to find some dimensions online for the vortec 4200. Turns out I was close, just needed to move the block lower on the bell housing. Everything seems to fit better now.
