The most expensive I've bought is the Pocher 1/8 scale Porsche 911; and coincidentally it's the most disappointing. I paid somewhere between $100 and $125.

The most expensive 1/24-25 scale is the Meng F-350.

Let's make this interesting, I have a sealed 1967 MPC Firebird in my stash. Why don't you guys price it!

It is not for sale, but I am curious how much someone would pay. This only for fun!

That's about the going price...

IF I was into Firebirds, I would have no problem giving you $125. Of course, you could sell it for more, that's where I would stop. IF I was a collector of things and really loves Firebirds, I would give you about $186.69 - if the box is perfect and all the parts are clean and in good condition.

I think the most I've spent for a kit is for the re issued Big T and Big Deuce. They were in the $70 dollar range each and that's with a discount.I used to think that $50 was ridiculous for a kit but that was a while ago.Now the new Ebbro Formula 1 kits are in that range.

jherald-I bought the Gunze GTO many years ago for $45,back when that was full price.A couple of year ago I got,as part of a larger kit collection I purchased, one of the engineless versions of the GTO.After selling off a large chunk of that collection I think made the effective price of that GTO to be about $5.

Do you feel comfortable telling us what you paid for it? I got one of these in roughly the same shape, (not quite as nice) for about $40.00 a year or two ago. Steve

You did better than I did! I saw a hardtop model this year for $60 and was very tempted but, passed on it. I believe I paid somewhere around $107, honestly don't remember. I remember beeing happy and thinking "Oh No" at the same time when I won the auction. Just had to have it to complete my story of a first 1:25 scale model. I really never did like Edsels is the ironic part. My first ridiculous purchase off ebay now. I think the original kit was around $1.39. It's nice having the original box but, I wish it was in better shape. I'm starting to feel like a collector saying that since I never save the boxes after I build them.

I probably wound up paying more than the $107.00 by the time I built it any way. I wound up buying a hardtop body later, which is really what I wanted in the first place, & I had to get a few replacement parts from Modelhaus because I broke a few trying to get it apart! But, it was an important part to add to the collection, so I have no regrets. Steve

Last year I bought 4 of the engineless Gto for about 15.00 each. I sold 2 and kept 2. From what I made on the 2 I sold I was paid 50.00 to keep the others. Lol love it when it works out that way!

$15.00 if it's sealed and I can't see whether the tires have burned a hole in something or not.

you have to keep in mind, even 600 or 1100 is peanuts compared to what it would cost in 1:1.

but of course in 1:1 you would be driving around in a super duper Porsche instead of having it sit on your mantle.

less liability though...every cloud and the silver lining don't you know

I bought this Dragon Leopold siege cannon for a C note($100.00).I consider it a fair price given the size of the kit. 2008_0131Spock0123.jpg

Nice, albeit a tad small. It fits on a shelf. ;)

The most expensive (and, by far, the largest) kit I bought was the Soar Art 1/35 DORA Super Heavy Railway Gun.

This set me back almost 900 clams. Not only is this huge (The box is nearly the size of a wall mounted a/c and the kit is over 7 feet long when completed), it weighs in at almost 60 lbs and the gun tube is about the same size as the barrel on my Mossberg 500. I developed a hernia hauling this beast home from a hobby shop in Manhattan to my home in Brooklyn.

And no, I haven't started it yet. I might have to apply for a building permit first. :)

A guy here in Norway did build that Dora gun, I remember seeing in on the IPMS show some years ago. I dwarfed everything on all the tables.

Here is a picture of it:

The tanks and the truck behind it on the right are the same scale, the Hallingdal betong truck on the left is 1:24.

Back in '92 or so, I bought a JoHan '67 Plymouth Fury for $65.00. Unsealed, but complete. Of course, while attempting to make it "better", I butchered it...#$*&%^!+!!! Now, I seek another, which will be treated with the utmost repect...

I have never really totaled up what I actually spent on any one model, but when you figure the cost of the original kit, any "donor" kits, specific paints and decals, flock or embossing powder, aftermarket parts, detailing materials, raw materials for fabricating and scratchbuilding, reference material- yikes, that can add up!

I'll bet you won't find another in the same shape for $65.00 now! Probably not even close! :) Steve

There's been a lot of them on ebay lately, which is strange in itself. These usually don't come up too often, at least not the kits. Finding a good one in that $65.00 range will be extremely difficult. steve
