stang_crazy Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Was going through some boxes tonight and come across a project I started around the time the kit was last issued which was in 03-04 I believe. Still a ways to go on it, so maybe one of these days ill finish it up. Just threw some wheels in there to have a slight mock up. But just wanted to snap a few pictures of it and share it with everyone.
Belugawrx Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Hey Now..... That is a nice start bro... Liking the stance and lines on that Keep this one going Cheers oh the wheels,...where from?
StevenGuthmiller Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Didn't know a '59 Rambler could look that good!! I always thought it would be kind of cool to do one of these "phantoms" in a factory stock style. Sort of a "what if" build. Looks like a nice start! Steve
thatz4u Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 I like were this ol' Rumbler is headed, keep going..
stang_crazy Posted December 20, 2014 Author Posted December 20, 2014 Bruce I believe the wheels/tires are from a jada diecast 1949 mercury ill have to look I got another one somewhere ill reply here once I find it to let ya know. To everyone else thanks for the comments. Ill keep everyone up to date on this build once I get back to it. Since ive got it out I may finish sanding and smoothing the body. I do plan on getting rid of the trim on the sides. Also plan to make it sit pretty low. Haven't decided much beyond that.
Belugawrx Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 That will look sweet.. no trim for sure Thnx I haven't looked at die casts for accs. before Cheers
Tom Geiger Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Those are Jada wheels, and I believe they put them on a number of different vehicles. I believe mine came off a '32 Ford. What kit did you steal that rear roof from? It looks good
Joker Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 (edited) This is how I did mine. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=65817&hl=joker Edited December 20, 2014 by Joker
oldnslow Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 That roof section looks like the piece in the AMT 55 nomad kit.
fun9c1 Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Very nice so far. I love the idea and will be watching as I'm working on my phantom Super Bee "El Camino", and I have to admit it is challenging me. Someone asked where the rear roof section came from. I'm guessing it's from the same kit cut out from the back? Keep going! I'd love to see the progress! Love the hubcaps, too.
Ace-Garageguy Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 GREAT concept. Missed it earlier, but I'll be watching from here on out.
