This may or may not belong here, I have no idea. My brother found this slide image (taken by my father), of a model I built when I was a kid. I don't recall the manufacturer, but I suspect it came configured this way, as I seldom changed anything. It's one of very few photographs I have of anything I built when I was in my youth. Paint is rough, but It was the best I could do at the time. It's wonderful to reminisce.

After snatching a box of old instruction sheets from my storage area, I was able to identify the origins of this car. It's the AMT Funny Car Mustang-GT, released way back in the 60's. Oddly enough, this very same car is available again now; just saw them on feebay. (I think I'll be buying another!)

the chrome is shiny and perfect, like the reissue....amazing its held up after all these years, considering the chrome on the early issues was semi gloss at best....truly amazing....the ace....

I do have a few more Polaroids (precious few), but they're so poorly done, that they're of little use on this forum; good for remembering though. If nothing else, they serve as proof positive that I built a particular something, like the 1:8 Big Deuce, and this Mustang.

Now that is just cool to have a blast from the past like that even in pictures Kevin. If you ever want a trip down memory lane there has been a recent re-release of it.

Oh yes, definitely on my "to get list" now, especially with recent confirmation received that it is indeed the same kit.

So, I have a question for the model kit historians out there; does anybody know if this kit was derived/created by AMT by them taking their factory-stock, 1966 Ford Mustang kit and putting the drag racing chassis and engine underneath it, and then altering the body to make it an altered-wheelbase body with those enlarged rear wheel wells?

Oh yeah, definitely a cool old build of yours, Roadrunner! I, too, built this kit back-in-the-day, and was really proud of the Purple metal-flake paint job that I did on it back then. Sure wish I had more than just my memories of it!
