landman Posted December 1, 2018 Author Posted December 1, 2018 Mocking up the heavy dyno. It is loosely based on the Taylor dyno in the photo behind it.
olsbooks Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 This simply a fantastic project. The ideas and inspiration you are providing are fantastic. Thank you. Unrelated, but as I push forward on the Great Gatsby project, how would you suggest posting pix as I am already bumping against space limits. Peace

Anglia105E Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 As well as Photobucket you can also use Flickr of course. ( JC ) Great work on the heavy dyno Pat, and one more detailed machine tool for the workshop. David
crazyjim Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 You can post pics directly to the forum using the paperclip thing below.
Anglia105E Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 That would be my preferred method also Jim..... using ' choose files ' , just to the right of the paper clip thing. David

landman Posted December 3, 2018 Author Posted December 3, 2018 Adding the mounting plate and casters to the cart.
landman Posted December 3, 2018 Author Posted December 3, 2018 (edited) Working on the drive end. Made up a driveshaft cover (scattershield). Edited November 25, 2020 by landman
landman Posted December 3, 2018 Author Posted December 3, 2018 The Dyno body is the cap of a laundry detergent jug. Its spout will make a nice diffuser vent for something.
olsbooks Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Brains over bucks! I admire the re purposing and resourcefulness greatly. You remind me of Mcguiver but actually make stuff that I can believe. No temptation to eye roll or call bs...just wows and applause. Peace

landman Posted December 5, 2018 Author Posted December 5, 2018 Dyno is taking shape as well as the cradle. The engine that will be mounted on/in it is ready, Playing with height adjustments.
Anglia105E Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 The dyno looks good Pat, and your wooden pallet is better than mine....... I shall have to make the next one look more realistic! David
landman Posted December 6, 2018 Author Posted December 6, 2018 (edited) Marked up the base plate , centered everything and added the guide tracks. Edited November 25, 2020 by landman

Nice work on the shop equipment....you have a engine factory there.
Anglia105E Posted December 7, 2018 Posted December 7, 2018 The heavy wiring cable running through the chrome ring brackets transforms this object into something real and tangible ( sorry don't know the correct name for the brackets Pat ). Excellent photography of yours, to show us these images...... the project continues! David

Bought them at the dollar store.
landman Posted December 8, 2018 Author Posted December 8, 2018 Construction of the cooling tower is coming along. as you can see the water supply comes from under the floor as we don't want hoses and cables to become tripping hazards.
landman Posted December 8, 2018 Author Posted December 8, 2018 (edited) These , a piece of 1" brass tubing, two slices of dowel and two 84 years old carriage bolts will become the exhaust muffler. Looking for the ideal location. Did some floor dirtyin' in the high traffic locations. Hard to do on that shiny duct tape. More visible away than up close. Go figure. Anglia105E Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 That side of the machine shop is looking really good now Pat, and the dyno fits in there nicely. All tripping hazards avoided! David
