ChrisBcritter Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 These were usually made from the remains of clapped-out four-door sedans; guess it's better than making them into couches...
unclescott58 Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I'm surprised to see how many of these were done. I'm also surprised to see how many I like the looks of. Scott
Lunajammer Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Is there a name for these kinds of hot rods? Like, a genre or a searchable term?
unclescott58 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Ohh!!! I like the Studes above. These are looking cooler, and cooler to me. Scott
Tom Geiger Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 The '50 Studes have to be a kit... they are from the same mold.... port holes to door handles.
FASTBACK340 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I've started to wander down that road myself and stalled…... Narrowed & pie-cut `69 Daytona with a rear mounted 12 cylinder overhead cam Hemi. And the engine
FASTBACK340 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 (edited) Yeah…. the `59 Buick on the pick-up is cool, but no-where near as cool as the unfinished Olds! Edited January 25, 2015 by FASTBACK340
cobraman Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I've started to wander down that road myself and stalled…... Narrowed & pie-cut `69 Daytona with a rear mounted 12 cylinder overhead cam Hemi. And the engine John, you have to finish this one !
wayne swayze Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Somehow...I'm oddly attracted to some of these cars...÷)
chunkypeanutbutter Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 The Golf and Corvair are travesties.
Longbox55 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 The Golf and Corvair are travesties. Oh, just for that, I'm going to cut my unbuilt AMT 67 Corvair to make one!!
FASTBACK340 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 John, you have to finish this one ! To give you an idea of how long this has been sitting I named it 2K'tona. Unfortunately, if I finish it sometime this year it will only be 15 years behind schedule.
FASTBACK340 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Somehow...I'm oddly attracted to some of these cars...÷) They are so awkward that they are cool. That `59 Olds is so stuck in my head…. I know I have a `59 Pontiac stashed somewhere with no windshield frame. Maybe, just maybe…..
Tom Geiger Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I think they are cool too. Just when you think they've done everything, someone invents a new style. I tried to do one a while back out of a '59 Chevy body... I"ll tell you not to try that one, the tail lights are too wide. I cut out the center and had them touching and the body was still too wide.
Foxer Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 The '50 Studes were MADE to have this done ...!
