Old Buckaroo Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 There's a lot of great info on Tim's site, I haven't been there in forever because of info overload! I hear you there, I have to limit myself to about one visit a month . I am on crapity satellite internet here and I can use up my months alotment in no time looking at pics.
purepmd Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Hey Sean, Very interesting build so far. Great work on the steering. I, too, am in the turned wheel fan club. Poseable front wheels really drive up the 'cool' factor. Well done.
Old Buckaroo Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 The cab and hood now have color , got just a touch of white spray creep on the red. Hopefully when I lightly wetsand to blend the colors together I can eradicate it. If not I will just touch it up. Thanks for looking
truckabilly Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Very nice colors. Here is a detail of a steering box inside the frame of a 281 under restoration... Jarda
Old Buckaroo Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 Thanks guys for the comments on the scheme, I copied it from a B&W pic from a book I have. I really liked the way the cowl was also painted. Jarda - Thanks a million for posting those pics, they will be real valuable on my next one ! Do you have any pics of the front frame and the front spring hangers you could post ?
Mackvision Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I agree with the others Sean, nice color choice! coming along nicely........................................Mark

Old Buckaroo Posted November 30, 2015 Author Posted November 30, 2015 Wow, it has been such a long time since an update on this one. Going to try and get this one on the display shelf . Made window glass out of some clear packaging. There is a scratch here and there but I have to work with what I have on hand. Speaking of, the BMF kinda looks like "Hammered Rat doodoo" . But I kid you not I have had this stuff since I was 15. Yeah - 36 years I have been packing this stuff around with Japanese writing on the backing paper. It has not fared too well and has a lot of creases in it. But I still have it I have no idea where I hid the wheels and tires but they are here somewhere.
gatorincebu Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Sean, You have this one looking pretty good. What trailer are you going to put behind it? Be Well Gator
tbill Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 looking good, another 'quick build' i see, lol. j/k, i got unfinished stuff all over the place lately.............
Superpeterbilt Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Looking good Sean. The old Pete looks tough with the walking beams. What motor did you end up going with?
Tesla Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 That's a sharp looking Pete. I really like your choice of colors.
Old Buckaroo Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 Looking good Sean. The old Pete looks tough with the walking beams. What motor did you end up ? Terry I used on of those Detroits. Gator - What do you mean by trailer , that would take up the shelf space of two more trucks . Actually I would like to have an old round front style.
guitarsam326 Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Absolutely perfect! You my friend have captured a classic at its finest!
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Awesome build!!! I really like the 5 holes!!
Petetrucker07 Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Lookin great Sean. This will look great next to the Petes. Are you gonna give the flaps the "fatbottom" treatment?
Old Buckaroo Posted December 2, 2015 Author Posted December 2, 2015 Clayton - I am not sure what I will do for the flaps. First I have to scrounge a pair. Remember all plastic components on this truck came from parts and partial assembled kits. Now I know what not to do on the next one.
gatorincebu Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Sean, The Pete is looking really good! As for the trailer thing. Yeah I got ya on that.. I have the same sort of problem. But I also have the unbuilt trailers to consider as well. I am planning on making a special storage case for them. So I will have different trailers to display with the trucks for photos. Be Well Gator
gino Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 that came out really nice sean ! my kind of old school truck.
