Revell 2010 Camaro SS Special Edition Kit.....just about finished

Attatched are a few pictures of the Camaro I have been working on. I used duplicolor Bahama Blue Metallic with Duplicolor clear. Question, is it possible to lay the stripe decals down and then put another coat of clear over it? Also used Model Master Leather and Dark Tan for the interior. I will be cutting off the air box to the intake tubing and ordering a CAI for it from the Model Meister. I also attempted to prime the underside and use the blue paint for a factory overspray but didnt do to well.

What do you guys think so far?

Yes you can decal then clear just be sure to let the decals dry before you start clearing. Your first coat should be a mist coat. I just painted a shelby mustang with this paint then put one light coat of clear then decals .3 more coats of clear polished between each coat. You want to put one light coat of clear before your decals or you will have a different color around the edges-trust me I learned this the hard way. I used testors one coat clear. Sam

Oh ok, thanks. Well being it has 4 coats of clear already...once the decals are applied and dried maybe 2 coats of cler should be sufficient?

Oh what kind of model car polish do you use?

Bryan, it's ok to not be shy with the clear, especially is you plan on wet sanding and polishing. How much clear you apply is going to depend on how much orange peel you have and how much you are going to have to sand off in order to make it flat, prior to buffing. I use Novus 1 & 2, but never had a reason to use the #3.

I put 5 decent coats of clear on this hood, but probably sanded and buffed at least 1-1.5 of a layer off. There wasn't a spec of orange peel on it, so making it flat was easy. The one thing you have to be careful with, especially if that is metallic underneath, is to make sure you don't sand or buff through to that layer. Once you do that, you will see the metallic come through and it will be an eye sore. Also, be very careful when sanding and buffing edges. Sometimes the clear is a little thinner there and you can hit the base coat very fast. If you have any specifics questions, please let me know. You build it turning out great!

Laid the stripes and sprayed 2 coats of Duplicolor clear. Going to let the clear cure for a few more days, then attempt to use some of my car wax to buff it out. Hopefully I dont mess it up. Today I will be finshing up assembly of the interior and will shoot some more pictures.

Speaking of pics, what program do you use to upload? I always have to use photobucket to downsize the pictures

Some new pictures up for the night. I painted the rotors with model masters steel and the calipers with Tamiya flat yellow. I used Tamiya gunmetal for the wheels. I still need to do some cleaning as you can see white shavings. Also will need to touch up the wheels again.

It looks like we're on the same page as far as general colors go. I found a major problem on my build. You might want to mock everything up and check the fit of the wheels inside the wheel wells with the body on. Mine stuck out of the fender wells by about 3mm. And for some reason, the front wheels are canted outwards. I think on the front calipers, leave the little plug out of the recess and just glue the wheel directly into that recess to try and tuck the front wheels in a little more. I found this out after I had superglued the wheels onto the rotors. I managed to carve out that little plug. Haven't done a test fit, though so I can't say for sure if that would work.

Ryan.

Awesome thanks, I will have to remember that when I go to put the body on. I think I did make the mistake of putting the front ground effect piece on first, looks like I may have to jimmy the frame up in there...we'll see.

I'll have to update with pictures later..I am really impressed with the fit of this model so far...

Last night I installed the rear tail lights, the head and fog lights and grill .I used Duplicolor to paint to chevy emblem. Still needs alot of detail and touch up work. I still have to order the CAI...instead of the stock CAI Box. I didnt put the rear qurter windows in either

Sorry for the crappy pictures... My Galaxy S5 has been acting stupid after the lollipop update....it drains my battery in the matter of 2 hours...and I think it is affecting the outcome of my pictures

Those light blue paints will work for the washer fluid in the reservoir. Something else I found that works is to apply the blue over the bottle and then shoot a coat of clear with a couple of drops of white mixed in it to give the illusion of fluid inside the bottle instead of looking like painted on blue on the outside of the reservoir.
