kilrathy10 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 (edited) Finally figured out what I'm gonna build, next.....I'm going after this.... Using this, of course......Hard to believe all these parts yield only a curbside model.....Still, though....It's one of my favorites..... Edited May 20, 2015 by kilrathy10
Petetrucker07 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 I think this would look good in orange with the kit decals. Looking forward to seeing this take the JT shape.
kilrathy10 Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 I thought about the same thing about those decals, C.....I said to myself.....Self......"Why haven't I ever used these??"..... Well, I got some paint slapped on.....Had to get it done before it rains, tomorrow.....We have a slight chance, but in Houston, that could be ANYWHERE.....
metalhead Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Do you ever get tired of orange? I must say, it does look very good and even. May I ask what paint you used?
cowboy rich Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Hey JT I'm Rich, new here but just wanted to say even though the Volvo is curb-side still a great model with a lot of potential for lights with that empty hood. Looks good in JT orange, gonna put a bedbugger behind it? Rich
Mopar - D Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 JT glad to see your able to build your Volvo I know you been wanting to for a while now. Your orange looks good have you decided on a trailer for it yet?
tbill Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 is it done yet? just kidding man, this will be another killer build, looking forward to seeing it done.
gatorincebu Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 JT, Nice color choice. When I saw the phot of the truck you are using for reference. I said yup JT Orange! Lol I have a couple of bed bug trailers I will let go for a good builders price. Be Well Gator
kilrathy10 Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 Thanks, Guys....I really like how orange looks on big rigs......My fleet is almost done, though, I think .....I'm thinking of going with either a scratch built race car hauler with interior, this time OR a scratch built 7 car hauler....Still not sure on that, yet....I have to finish with the truck, first....More updates to come....
Mopar - D Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 JT looking forward to seeing some updates on the Volvo. My vote on your next build is the car hauler but I would challenge you to go for a 10 or 12 car capacity.
kilrathy10 Posted February 19, 2015 Author Posted February 19, 2015 Thanks, Dan, Alain....I appreciate the vote of confidence, Dan, but I've got a 9 car hauler planned for one of my AMT Transtar 4300 kits....I think I'd have to cut too many of my favorite features off of the Volvo to make something like that....BUT....I hear ya.....Just waiting for it to warm up a little more, so I can really get busy.....
Mopar - D Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 JT looks like it may be a while for the warm weather to get here.
Kostas Parchas Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I like the way you always surprise us with your color choices. 50 shades of orange lol! Nice start, I like the idea about the race car hauler or an aluminum 53ft flatbed. I wish I could buy a carton box full of this kit. Kostas.
kilrathy10 Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 Been working so much, I haven't been able to get back to the bench, much.....I did manage to get a few things done on this, though.....Got the interior painted and I took a much simpler approach to making poseable steering by snagging a steering rack from a Mercedez Actros kit....Fit quite nicely....
Petetrucker07 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Looks good man. That's a great switch for the steering. Lookin forward to seeing this done. Oh, and nice haul from the mailman.
Kenny B Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 JT, You must have a truck load of orange paint. It will sure look good if you paint it orange. Ken
Ken Gilkeson Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 great work and progress on a fine looking truck JT. ;-))
tbill Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Looking good JT, nice touch with using that front axle.
gatorincebu Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 JT, I know I posted on this somewhere, but not here. I like what you have going on here. And Yes I do like the JT orange!!! I like your front axles swap. I think I will do the same only use the metal axle I got from Gary Wallace. As for a trailer a bed bugger works well , but a auto rack would work also. So I will be following this to see what other neat ideas you come up with. Be Well Gator
Goodwrench3 Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I thought about the same thing about those decals, C.....I said to myself.....Self......"Why haven't I ever used these??"..... Well, I got some paint slapped on.....Had to get it done before it rains, tomorrow.....We have a slight chance, but in Houston, that could be ANYWHERE..... JT -- do you do your spray painting outside ?
