Young iron Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 (edited) Hi I just finished her, after months of work ( I need to improve my pace) and a lot of changes. She first was supposed to be a solid Baby-blue Lowrider. But I decided to go Factory-stock. This is the Revell Snap kit. Paint is actual 1977 Chevy Dark blue green metallic 48, sprayed with a Motip can. Interior is white with green accents, as the Swivel seat option allows. All I added is the Modelhaus wire wheel-covers on T-426 tires, and a Model car Garare photoetch set. Hood ornament comes from a Amt 1966 Buick Wildcat. And since the plastic created a "hole" after peint behind the rear glass, where a tube supports the interior bathtub, I placed that CB antenna... Interior details Real car I learnt a lot with this kit. Especially for bumpers and Two-tone interior. Hope I will live long enough to build one more. Like a Mahogany metallic 1976. TooOld Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Wow , I never thought that kit could look so nice ! Congratulations on an absolutely beautiful Monte Carlo !
disabled modeler Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 NICE...! I have one but the body and mirrors are missing to the kit came in a box of stuff from a garage sale.
Notoriousek Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Wow nice results. I was looking at that kit not too long ago... Might have to pick one up now. Great job! Love the colors
Dave Van Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Nice build.....I like the wheel covers! This is a great kit really. I have used it to build NASCAR cup race cars and stock versions. This is a build I did of a buddy's car he bought new. He saved all his cash to buy it. It had the swivel seats....but I didn't replicate them. Very simple basic build.
Young iron Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 Thanks everybody !!! Yes, I tried to detail this kit as a Glue kit. Dave, this is a clean build ! Revell does include Swivel-seats, other choices were bench seats. I love these cars, please Revell, release some other big 70's models !!!
om617 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Very nicely done. Good choice on going stock.
tomsheehy Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Very nice. Should have been re-tooled to a full detail kit, the body looks so great.
Young iron Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 (edited) Ditto Tom Body is great. Mr Revell, just separate front grill from bumper, or even better, separate the bumper filler panels, and it's perfect. For the guys who dare kitbash (too long, I have too much ideas for that), maybe the 1980 Caddy chassis and Engine compartment would work ? Edited February 17, 2015 by Young iron
towman1271 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Beautiful job..awesome job with the detailing
59-Desoto Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Man I love it , great looking Monte Carlo
