Having messed up the paint on the normal kit, I thought I'd try again with the pre-painted version. The body came out quite nicely after polish and foil, although obviously I couldn't remove the mold seams - a pity, but I can live with it. All other parts come from the normal kit as I wanted more accurate colours.

I made the steering poseable, quite easily done on this kit, and scratch built front blinker lenses, an antenna, and a horn ring. The mirror faces were replaced and I used AMT Parts Pack tyres.

By no means the easiest kit I ever built, with many parts needing work to fit nicely. But I'm very pleased to have this stunning piece of automotive design on my shelf at last.

The engine is very well molded and just needs a few details to make it come alive. The battery decal is from Roadhawg, who is on this forum.

Excellent looking car Peter. I'll be getting around to building one of these kits eventually.

Yeah, those Mopar fins are awesome aren't they? I can't wait to line up all of my mid and late 50's Chryslers, DeSotos, Dodges and Plymouths for group pictures once I finish building them all.

Stellar work Peter! You're one of those guys that always angers me because although you're a fantastic builder, you're an even better photographer! I can never seem to do my builds such justice. Great work! Steve

Thanks so much for your comments! Feedback is always good, and the tips I received during the WIP phase were essential to getting this thing done.

Steve, thanks for the compliment. I was able to buy a Canon 400D SLR camera from my son for peanuts, and I use a cheap light box and 3 purpose-bought 100w lamps.

The close-ups here are done with a new Tamron 90mm macro lens that I found cheap. Still experimenting with that - a 50-60mm might have been a better choice.

Personally I think my shots are too soft and lack sharpness but I don't have the skill to change that. With these shots I was helped by the fact that shiny black paint just loves the camera.

Excellent build of a classic! Sure would like to see some forum posts, (with lots of pics), about those other 2 Mopar "fin-bearers" in your group shot!

Thanks Mark, I've posted the other two previously and hope these links work:

What is the difference between '57s and '58s, not much! Even AMT should do a re-issue and make it a '58 so we can have the 300s in '55 '56 '57 and '58!

Yours looks great in black and the 3 cars together, wow, very cool!

While they're at it, they just as well do a '59 also. Not a lot of difference there either. Steve
