DeeCee Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) Here is my sleeper cannonball run build. A 40 Ford delivery with a Ferrari Testarossa drive line. Don't quite fit.....yet! Removed all the floor pan, including the molded in exhaust system. Modified the rear chassis and fabricated some front engine mounts, she now fits.. Edited February 22, 2015 by DeeCee
72 Charger Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Very interesting Dale I will be watching .
58 Impala Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Cool idea, look forward to seeing where it goes.
Scott Colmer Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I like where this is headed. I'll be watching.
bill_67 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Nice job fitting that engine into the chassis looks great. Not easy to go from 1/24 engine to 1/25 car, I'm finding it difficult.
bobthehobbyguy Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Great project. Looking forwardcto seeing more.
DeeCee Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Thanks for the interest guys, i pulled out the Ferrari wheels, and thought they look cr#p, but i need the size and width, so i cut the centres out of them, and inserted a set of chromies, so, old school look, but with the Ferrari 18" rims and tyres. Got to keep with the sleeper look..
72 Charger Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Nice work on those rims Dale . Have you picked a colour yet?
DeeCee Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 Nice work on those rims Dale . Have you picked a colour yet? Thanks Dave, yes, as it will be Ferrari powered, it will have to be bright red i think mate.
bill_67 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I like the way those wheels turned out dale, the width will keep power to the ground but look is so unassuming.
DeeCee Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 Thanks a lot Bill, got a small update, I had to cut the rear off the chassis, as the wheels would not fit inside the guards, but when i moved the rails in, to fit the wheels, the engine would rub the rails, and there was NO WAY i was going with smaller wheels, so, back to the drawing board. Here is what i ended up with, and the great news, it WILL sit this low. Should make more progress now i got the chassis sorted, but now need to hang some suspension. ?????
dino246gt Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Looking good, the rims are so cool. I love how low it sits so far too!
DrKerry Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Somebody that thinks like me!!!!!!!! I like it!!!!!!!!
DeeCee Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 Somebody that thinks like me!!!!!!!! I like it!!!!!!!! Thanks very much guys, Kerry, i like to build as far outside that box as possible mate, and in over 20 years,i have never built an OOB yet.
72 Charger Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Im just guessing that the fuel tank will be under the hood ?
DeeCee Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 Im just guessing that the fuel tank will be under the hood ? Sure will be Dave, and maybe in the shape of an engine, just to throw the authorities off the scent.
DrKerry Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Thanks very much guys, Kerry, i like to build as far outside that box as possible mate, and in over 20 years,i have never built an OOB yet. Now now, everything I build is out of the box!!!!!!!! What does it matter that I take a few from this box, few from that box, etc. etc.!!!!!! :D
dino246gt Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Out of box, some from this box........some from that box, ha ha, well I did compete in a strictly out of box contest once, Audi R8, but MAN was it hard for me NOT to add anything, no wires, no seatbelts, not even flocking!!!! I just can't do it, I like doing things my way, not out of box! Of course I haven't seen a kit of a '40 Sedan Delivery with a flat 12 mid mounted in a box yet, do it YOUR way, way cool!!!!
DeeCee Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 Thanks guys, well, back to this one for a bit, i redid the wheels, painted the ferrari sleeve red, it looks a lot better now with the red wall look. No room for the Ferrari suspension, so doing a solid diff set up, and now need to work out some sort of spring set up too. Exhaust was the easiest thing to make work i think.
72 Charger Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 There is some nice work there Dale. Those rears are very close to the chassis
