Topics I've Started

Answering topics in how-to

15 November 2013 - 04:54 PM

Try it… you might like it!

I was in a slump for most of the last year doing little if any building and virtually no posting or reading of the forums.  With a forced vacation for the last two months building has been a great distraction.

Having a lot of free time I've also done more reading on the forums.  I was surprised going through the How-To questions that I have worked through many of the same issues people were having.  Taping, paint, roll cages, custom exhaust, engine swaps, custom decals… on and on…  I really enjoyed sharing my experience.  I know many times I have been jammed up or lost on a project and the how-tos have helped.  I never thought I would be able to contribute.  I guess my skills, er mistakes, have finally piled up to a point I can help… and it was FUN!  :D

Give it a try

Chevy Citation… stop laughing

OK I know… not really a HOT subject but it was my brother's first car.  The kit is a notch back and I need to convert it to a hatch.  What are the odds anyone has pulled this off and has some advice?

Thanks in advance

49 Merc

09 November 2013 - 09:14 AM

Well I tried to do a build thread on this thing but I'm just not very good at those.  So hear are a few pictures of the finished product.  It's the Revell 49 with a RG 454 (bought for a different project), Pegasus wheels, brakes from someplace, solder headers, a handful of random wire, old slixx decals and a resin shifter with a skull on top I found on ebay.  Please… comment, discuss etc.  If you want pictures of a specific area please feel free to ask.

OK… that's enough for now.

Hope you like it :)

1969 Chevelle 396 SS

I am going to copy a friends 1:1.  I searched on this topic and it seems the only kit is the AMT that is out of production.  Is there a version of the kit that is better?  Different?  More accurate?  More part options?

Thanks in advance.

49 Merc - most ambitious project yet

28 October 2013 - 04:02 PM

Well with my recent unemployment I have found myself with A LOT of time on my hands.

So after a Testors M3 slump buster I grabbed the Revell 49 Merc originally intended for a group build like three years ago.  Real life happened then too.

As much as I hate the "wheels and body" mock ups this does show the Pegasus wheels I picked out.  At this point I had already done most of the suspension and floor work as well.

Above mentioned suspension and floor work.  Rear end narrowed, fuel tank relo, wells tubbed etc.

The floor with everything cut out.

The spillage of Ross Gibson engine parts that will make up the 454 big block going in… I REALLY wanted the hilborne fuel injection look.

I have gotten a way down the road from here but need to shoot some more pictures.  More to come
