Jeff Johnston
I started thus just before Christmas. I have been planning this build in my head for years and finally pulled the trigger. I'm quite a ways on so I'll post pics from start to where it is now.
Jeff Johnston
To age the wood I mixed black and white craft paint to make light gray. Then I thinned it a lot. I wiped the paint on the wood with a sponge, or paper towel or etc. and let it dry. I wanted each piece to look unique. This made the wood look aged. Then I uses variouis shades of black, charcoal and brown pastel chalk to dirty it up some more. .
Jeff Johnston
I bought basswood siding from Urecht supply and aged the inside, while painting the outside with flat red thinned craft paint. THen I glues it on the framing with wood glue. Candles for weight
Jeff Johnston
making progress. The trim is also painted craft paint white. All the wood it balsa except the siding. I like the way the balsa is soft and takes the stain well.
Jeff Johnston
This is siting on the wooden base. I used charcoal pastel chalk to dirt up the outside of the garage. Most of the weathering on this project is from pastel chalk. I also started making boxes and other bits to put around the garage, Edited February 18, 2014 by Jeff Johnston
