Hey!!! Gimme Back My Avatar!

Recommended Posts

I've just found another forum member who's using my avatar as his own. That's the second time in a couple of weeks that my avatar has been...uh, "borrowed".

What's the deal, guys? Are you copying and pasting it from my posts?

Geez, I thought my avatar would be safe to use without worrying about someone else grabbing it...

I guess I should be flattered that you all like it well enough to claim it as your own, but I created that illustration...so please find your own graphic to use and let me keep mine!

Or we can work out a nice little licensing fee... :(

LOL>>>>>well atleast someone didnt steal a self created avatar of yourself playing guitar......that happened to me on a music forum and the guy had the nerve to tell everyone it was him....since I am known well enough there..it was quickly fixed. Kinda like someone showing you a picture of your wife...and saying it was theirs. LOL

It appears that this forum gives posters an option of picking from the avatars that we've uploaded, and doesn't ID them as to who uploaded it.

But I didn't upload my avatar from cyberspace...it's an illustration that I did. I created the illustration, and am using it as my avatar.

I don't think our avatars should be made available as public property...the whole point of an avatar is that it's your own personal "thing".

I find my off road race car in there too! I built it, I won a Championship with it, I still own it, I took the picture with my camera, I scanned it, and I uploaded it from my harddrive.

I also find the avatars of several others I have seen on this forum and other forums.

I agree with you guys! Those are our own images and should never be shared! That is a violation of our copyrights!!! ... and just downright WRONG!!!!

It looks like it might be a fuction of the Forum software. Hopefully he can restrict access to the images without blocking our avatars.

Maybe he will hear when the process server knocks?

"Notice from the law firm of "Dewey, Ficksum & Howe"..."

On the other hand... This is very likely a feature of the IPB bb which Gregg has no control over and probably no prior knowledge of...

While none of the ones I did of my own art are included, I did notice my first one, that I used a drawing from my friend Eric, is in there not once, not twice, but five times! I think I'm kinda hurt. To think two people choose your one, while no one picked any of the five of mine that wern't even done by me!
