  1. Thanks for all the comments, guys! I definitely recommend either of these if you're just looking for a quick, fun build.
  2. I found them at an Ollie's in Cincinnati and also saw them at the one in Florence, KY. The two stores don't have all the same kits, so if you have any others in your area, drop in - there's no consistency!
  3. They really were! The Willys is a pretty quick build, but the train required more effort mainly because of the more complex paint scheme - thank God for Tamiya flexible tape.
  4. Fantastic work and I agree - the paint came out beautifully!
  5. I found these for $13 each at Ollie's and decided to get them just for the heck of it. I've been having trouble reaching the finish line on lots of builds lately. I had more fun with these than I expected!!!
  6. Are the side mirrors essentially the same as the factory mirrors? I don't think they've changed much year over year, and you might be able to find a cheap street version of the 2015 or later model to pilfer them from.
  7. I'm with you. How the heck do we know the thickness of milk? As a rule of thumb, I once saw that if you drag a small line of thinned paint up the side of the paint cup, and it's not watery and running down the side, nor is it sitting there in a lump at the stopping point, you're likely ok. You should have a clean, even line of color that basically hangs there.
  8. Just curious - does it basically share the same chassis and roll cage as the Camaro or is this a whole new tool?
  9. It was the first time I used the hairspray technique - it's on the roll bar, push bar, and the spare tire bracket - it really does produce a nice rusted look!
  10. Did you call Jo-Han and request a replacement tire? 😁
  11. And before I get called out on it, I did later correct my mistake with the distributor.
  12. I decided to build both of them this time. The Model T was actually more challenging. Paint for the Chopped T is Tamiya Intermediate Blue (AS-19) with a Panzer Grey roof.
  13. Thank you. I wanted it to look like something that is used all the time with little regard to how it actually looks.
  14. I found this at Hobby Lobby discounted to $7.50 and grabbed it for the heck of it. It turned out to be a fun build. I threw a lot of weathering techniques at it and loaded the bed with some random items. Thanks for looking!
  15. We should never laugh at someone else's work. This is a perfectly fine build, but we've all seen a few here and there that were... well... not so great. Laughing at the builder will just discourage them. My early builds were garbage and in pre-internet days, all I could do was aspire to builds like the ones I saw in the magazines, and I would take tips from people at hobby shops or shows. With the internet, we need to support each other and share our knowledge. If we want the hobby to thrive, we need to build everyone up, not tear them down. I would have loved to have had a forum back then where I could get immediate feedback and advice.
  16. That is a smart move - get your feet wet with something that you can afford to screw up. I personally have tried to hold on to every build, even the bad ones - they remind me of how far I've progressed and I was proud of them at the time I completed them!
  17. This is an outstanding how-to process so far!!
  18. If interested! Limited quantities and no additional Roadrunners planned until later into 2023.
