  1. It is Dann, grab one before they're gone!
  2. Thanks for the nice words everyone. I've been out of the game for a while - I started several projects and couldn't seem to get them to the finish line. I needed this just to prove that I haven't lost it yet!
  3. I recently found the Glitter Bug at the Hobby Villa in Kentucky. I think I'm going to do that one soon. I need to find the Nomad now.
  4. It was what was on the decal, I had no control over it!
  5. It's a great kit - lots of fun!! Thanks for the nice words, guys (you and Terry)!
  6. Why can't I see any pictures? Is it just me??
  7. I had a good day all around for Gama Goats - earlier the same day, while at a Half Price Books clearance sale up in Columbus, I found this for $2 still in the shrinkwrap.
  8. I loved this kit. It doesn't look like much in the box, but it was so much fun to build!
  9. Today's grab! If you're in Cincinnati, the HL near Glenway Crossing is cleaned out, and the one on Colerain has no markdowns... at least not yet.
  10. I had my eye on it for so long. I'm glad I waited.
  11. I got all of these at the HL in Mason, OH. The Tamiya Gama Goat was marked down from $50 to $12.49. The 1/32 Mustang was $5.99 and the Lindberg plane just $3.74. They also had the AMT Color Me Gone for $7.49 but someone else got the last one.
  12. Michaels, Dollar Tree, Hobby Lobby... all of them have a variety of items that can be used for the hobby. I needed a glass surface for trimming pieces of masking tape so I bought a $3.99 frame at Michaels, used a 40% off coupon, tossed everything but the glass, and it cost me $2.40. That 40% off coupon is the best.
  13. For anyone looking for cheap wire, I found $1 packs of red, black, and silver wire at Dollar Tree and also found tiny spools of different colored wire at Hobby Lobby for $10 ($6 with coupon).
  14. I hadn't even considered that. I've just been taping parts to them for quick painting. I'm starting to look at things to do on the cheap - the driver for the Humbug is painted mostly in cheap craft pains from Hobby Lobby. Even the Metallic Blue helmet is a $1.59 bottle that was 30% off! It went on fine and dried nice.
  15. I'm sure I'm not the only old fart on medication. These big pill bottles make nice improvised paint stands and the lid gives extra stability against accidental tip-overs.
  16. is the '61 Impala a nice kit? I was looking at it, but knew nothing about it.
  17. I grabbed three of the Danica Patrick Fusion kits last night. And I had a 15% off coupon as well. The one in Cincinnati on Glencrossing Way has pretty much everything shown in the ad except for the Dodge at the bottom (I didn't see it anyway). There were tons of NASCAR Fusion kits. I guess Danica's wonderful personality has been a turn off to modelers.
  18. Dave - the builder came down from Canada. That's all I know about him, but I'm with you - when I saw it on the table, I felt like it could be dropped into a small car and fired right up!
  19. James - I'm actually using it to paint tank tracks. I found one of those World of Tanks kits at Hobby Lobby discounted to about $12 so I grabbed it as a fun distraction. I also found a bunch of old Fine Scale Modelers (and Scale Auto, Plastic Fanatic, and Tamiya Model Magazine) for 50 cents each and one guy did his tracks with Floquil weathered black and rust highlights and I liked the way they looked. I'll most likely highlight with gunmetal instead. And, on that note, I'm mostly a car guy, but I have been reading thru these non car magazines at the gym and I have to say, they do two things: 1) they give you ideas for things you can do to your car models, and 2) they really make building a plane or a tank look like a lot of fun!
  20. Thanks Snake, I grabbed a couple of bottles of the Grimy Black so I'm good. I just felt like an idiot for not knowing... the weird thing is I could swear I saw a rack of Floquil at this shop the last time I was there, but it was probably just some fever dream brought on by too much Testors glue and peyote.
  21. Ha ha ha, no problem! The guy who answered was hilarious. As soon as I said Floquil, he literally screamed into the phone "Nooo!!! They don't make that anymore." I went to the shop later and he was a grumpy looking old codger, so I gave him a pass. I respect my elders, even if they're a little impatient at times!
  22. When you call a local hobby shop for Floquil weathered black and find out Floquil paints disappeared from shelves 3 or 4 years ago! Nice to see I'm keeping up with the times. But they did have Testors Grimy Black, which is an acceptable alternative.
  23. I just bought something - $8.45 for Priority shipping! Very reasonable when you consider how low some of the kit prices are!
