  1. Such a shame. Worst thing imaginable. When you've got the motivation for a build and it gets wrecked... Makes one want to poke one self in the eye with a fork. You could make it a wreck... Build it like it's been in an accident. Either way, I hope and believe you'll bounce back. Cheers!
  2. We all have our favorites when it comes to everything. I'm sure I would benefit from using the "real deal" that James "jwrass" talks about, and when I get a chance, I'll def. try some. But due to my location, the Tamiya stuff isn't expensive (lucky me) and I've always had pleasing results, and isn't that the point? That we should all use what we like and what gives us the results we're after. If you're not happy with what you have, for some reason, then try something new. And it's in those situations, tips from the "real deal users" really come in handy.
  3. All though the acrylic smoke and transparents from Tamiya "needs" to be shot through an airbrush, I've had great results brushing it on with a brush, specifically one of those brushes with thick bristles meant for kids watercolors. Super stiff stuff. I have to say tho, I've only used the brushes on headlight and rear light lenses, in 1:24 and 1:10. in other words no bigger areas. The brushes has always been as wide as the parts painted. You could try this on a spare part. Paint I'm referring to is the Tamiya X-# (smoke, transparent).
  4. Wow... Great bumping work Scott! And great tutorial Bill. Those ghosting prevention methods... Gold! just a need-to-know kind of thing. Also, I have a question. The BMF work on the rear window, was that done with a single square of BMF or was it done in sections? Thank you both!
  5. Thanks a lot! Heh, fans... I know the drill. I'm a massive sports fan myself... Barely wanna talk about sports.
  6. As said, NO dumb questions. I almost only use Tamiya's paints. I feel they are underestimated and underrated. First and most importantly they are available everywhere. That's a big plus.
  7. Yeah, no, I was thinking about something else. I should really not write when I'm tired. ???
  8. I've always hated the mach 1's body and overall shape but you might have gotten me converted. Great work! And the torino is wow.
  9. I believe it's the tamiya PIAA JGTC Accord.
  10. For a small scale it sure looks big. Crisp!
  11. Is the smoke really available in TS? Thought they only did them in PS sprays. Or do you mean the Tamiya X paint?
  12. Then, there's also THIS kit, but this might be the only chance to get one.
  13. That's it, the DFV. Yum. And yeah, the in-line 4 cossies were cool engines. Maybe too small, but cool nevertheless. At least one Sierra exist, Escorts a few. Other cool newer race engines are the newer WRC Fiestas, also a tad small and "weak". Another that comes in mind are the engines in the GT40 and the new Ford GT1 racecar. SimilR does great kits of these, not sure about the quality of the engine though. Would be a pretty B-A story on how on earth you got an engine from a GT40. There is a Revell Bennetton B194 available... ... and Gunze Sangyo has made a B188 with the DFR
  14. I remember this. That interior/exterior color combo is brilliant!
  15. Rob is spot on. Should've specified. A Cosworth-Ford V8 from an Indy or F1. Tamiya's made a few, got to be a Ford or two in the heap. Availability might be a problem. There's also a few Indy-kits, hasn't cosworth's been a long term partner with Dallara? Or why not try and get a hold of a Escort or Sierra Cossie... Have those been kitted?
  16. F-18a Jaguar XKR GT3 team Eritrea. NASA Discovery Really impressed. I showed ONE decal and how they work and then the did it like they've been doing it for ages.
  17. It's really rewarding for me as well as them. I think I've discovered some new future plasticaddicts!
  18. I'm having model building classes at work (I work at a youth center) and thought I should share their work. These are built by kiddos that have never even seen plastic model kits before, so I presented them to some easy kits and some tamiya colors. These are some finished models so far. North American P51 Mustang built by a 13 year old F16 built by a 10 year old. No white paint tho, he though the kit plastic looked OK. More builds will be added on later. I'm so proud
  19. Guys, need some help. Or pointers really, fairly new to Tamiya TS, how long should I wait until I can color sand? Will 1200 grit wetsand suffice?
  20. It could probably have been something in North America if the BTCC supertouring wasn't slaughtered by Alfa Romeo's entrance. Alfa came with a car full of aerodynamic enhancements. All homologated and thereby legal in the class. This of course making the Alfa's superior, the other teams had to match the Aero and the prices of producing the cars rose from a couple of thousands per season to many thousands per race. Killing off team after team.
  21. Thank you Carl and Shaun. Comments make me want to continue.
  22. Guess my 787B would fit in here but do I really need more threads to remember? Barely remember the ones I have. Great and interesting builds in here.
