  1. Yes, the topic should have been "an engine for a Ford" rather than "a Ford engine" as I suspected it wasn't a Ford. Thanks for all the help. Like I said, my knowledge on american made engines is limited.
  2. What an amazing car. And that orange looks great. JC, what color/livery are you going for?
  3. I really do not know a whole lot about american made engines and trannys, so when the box or manual doesn't tell what's included, I'm lost. So please help me identify this engine tranny combo. Its from revells 37 ford coupé rod. (Yellow boxart, 1994(?))
  4. Thanks guys. These are awesome kits. And a great piece for practicing techniques. I use them to practice brush painting and experiment on mixing different paint types and how they react to each other. So all my eggs are brush painted. If they turn out good, they look great in the shelf, if not, they're cheap enough to "let go to waste".
  5. That color is spot on. Great work Tim.
  6. Such cool cars. Can't wait to see more.
  7. That paint set up is fantastic. Wish I had the space for one. And that satin finish looks super good. Almost a shame to clear it.
  8. Paper mill huh, that must smell nice The engine is definately a good Starting point. Will be a nice transplant.
  9. Rims look killer on the supra. I agree on the headlights. Maybe should've shot them with alclad along with the wheels? Sometimes following the instuctions are dangerous.
  10. Adding to my previous post: I'm a young guy. Mid 20's kinda young guy. My problem with some builders of the "older generation" isn't the fact that I enjoy European and Japanese cars from the the 90's more than American cars from the 60's. After all I'm from Europe. If I build a Toyota and the response on this forum is minimal or even bashing, I don't really care. That particular car is special to me, and it looks great in my shelf. MY problem is that, for example, I want to put a ford engine in my chevy. I'm going to put a ford engine in it. Who cares? A lot of people apparently. I would never dare to build a rod out of a 40's Ford, because I would probably do it wrong. I'm scared of doing it. My problem is people that tell me I can't put that tranny on that engine, I can't put that axle on that chassis. So I stick to modern-ish cars, with modern customization. I stick to rally cars, and GT cars, because I know how they're built, what parts are used. That way I can't, in some guys point of view, sin by putting a Ford engine in my chevy. Hope you understand what I'm trying to say.
  11. None at all, except for some "brush painting isn't good enough, why did I brush paint this thing"-nonsense. Paint, strip, repeat. Kit wise, went together like a charm.
  12. My dad built model cars, so I started "helping out" when I was 5. After a few years of the so called "helping out" he bought me my first kit. We went to a store and I got to pick my first car myself. Now, I brought some models to my work, just to show some of them. I work with kids age 10-17. They are really interested, but I constantly have to SHOW that stuff exist. I don't know how many times I've heard "Wow, did you build that?", "Can I build my own model?", "Are there PLANES as well!?!" etc. I started model building classes at work, bought a few different kits, airplanes, cars, spacecraft, rockets... So far approximately 30 kids boys and girls, that had never ever heard of such a thing as "scale model", have finished their own. Sometimes it seems like a mix of "If you build it they will come", and "If you show them they will know". A whole bunch of them now, 12 months after the first "class", has shown me their first "Built-without-Robins-help"-models. They actually went home, told mom and dad, and bought their own models. It makes me feel so happy, because all of this makes me remember the models I shared with my dad, from helping him paint carburetors, to showing him my first finished car. - Robin
  13. Wow, that body looks killer. The lines are beautiful.
  14. Zero 2k is amazing. And I figure if you start working with it you wont mind the hassle of cleaning up, cause end result is over the top. That yellow looks great.
  15. Can barely believe this is a 1:24. Absolutely brilliant interior!
  16. The wheels for me made it a bit much, with the yellow calipers, but otherwise a fantastic model and color combo. The red interior sets it of.
  17. A shame to sacrifice such a lovely Jag. But... It's for the greater good. Good luck!
  18. Looks great. The F1/87-88c's are beautiful machines.
  19. Thanks boys. Decals were frustrating without setting solution but obviously doable. Some wrinklage but minor considering the age of the decals and for just using lukewarm water. Tamiya.
  20. The color looks great. Really nice.
