DoctorLarry Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Here is my next project, a 1975 Buick Regal Indy 500 Pace car. I just finished a 73 Buick Century and had already done the 76 Buick Century Pace Car so this was the next one on my list. It had the formal roofline that some of the Collonade cars had instead of the fastback roof. Since the 76 car has the formal roofline, this was a pretty simple cut and splice (so far). I just started it and so I still need to rework the front and rear ends and the rear bumper. I shaved the marker lights off the 73 body and will need to move them up like the 75 car had. So off to a good start. I also shaved the roof band off the 76 roof (but left the t tops) and am starting to open the windows up to get the correct shape. Because the main body was already done, this one should move faster than the 2 years the other two took!
Timonator Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Where did you get the main body to start with? My first car was a 73 Gran Sport stage 1. I would love to build a model of it.

TransAmMike Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 I need the "formal" roof line Regal. Is there a model available like it? Owned one back in the day, was silver and I put Cragers on it. Loved the look.
DoctorLarry Posted October 13, 2020 Author Posted October 13, 2020 That's what I'm working on. See the first picture.
TransAmMike Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 I did but what is the kit. I can't find it anywhere.
DoctorLarry Posted October 14, 2020 Author Posted October 14, 2020 No kit yet. I am building the 75 now.
DoctorLarry Posted November 28, 2020 Author Posted November 28, 2020 More progress. I opened up the grille area and fabbed a new one. 39 separate pieces! I modified the front bumper to fit the 75 and added the center bulge for the license plate. In back I modified the deck lid and the rear quarters to fit the 75 profile. I fabbed up a new rear filler and tail lights and modified a bumper I had from the parts box. It is coming together.
Captain Spaulding Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 Looking good, I'll be watching this build. Always liked those 75 Century's, my grandfather had a 75 4 door he drove for years was a fun old tank.
DoctorLarry Posted December 14, 2020 Author Posted December 14, 2020 Got the interior mostly done. I have to refine details and it is ready. The body is about 95% done. More refinement, add some trim and this will be ready for clay.
AMT68 Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 (edited) My first two cars were Colonnade coupes. A '74 Malibu Classic and a '73 LeMans so this build is very cool to see. I admire the talent and the accuracy of this model build. Edited December 14, 2020 by AMT68
AMT68 Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 (edited) I'm lovin' the green Laguna. I have the Pepsi Chevelle and the AMT 380 Donnie Allison Chevelle. With those stock car kits I would somehow have to flare the wheel openings to make them look like the production car. The Johan Cutlass interior fits perfectly and would be acceptable for me. I saw your other Colonnade post which was a gorgeous green '73 Gran Sport. Reminded me somewhat of my Slate green '73 LeMans coupe. Edited December 14, 2020 by AMT68
DoctorLarry Posted December 18, 2020 Author Posted December 18, 2020 Just for kicks I painted the interior. White Testor's lacquer on the front seats, Tamiya TS10 French Blue on the door panels and Tamiya TS54 Light Metallic Blue on the carpeted areas. A little Molotow chrome on the trim. Ready for a dash and console.
