Mark Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 It's a much earlier issue, before the body got sliced and diced for the NASCAR Daytona versions, and cobbled somewhat back to stock to churn out millions of General Lee kits.
Snake45 Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 The original MPC '68-'69 Chargers were pretty nice, in fact IMHO they're a little better than the modern Revell kits in a couple areas. I still have the one I built in 1968 and cherish it. It's about due for a restoration.
StevenGuthmiller Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 Again, the $500.00 is obviously collectors price for someone that wants an original to grace his shelf. That kit will never be built, guaranteed. There are better, or at least equal and much cheaper options for someone who actually builds models. ? Steve
Sledsel Posted July 15, 2021 Author Posted July 15, 2021 Bet the guy on Ebay with another at $50 is praying for the losing bidders.... LOL
Oldcarfan27 Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 (edited) Well, 5 clams supposedly buys a sealed original annual kit from 1969. But... Judging by the wear on the corners of the box and the freshness of the shrink, I'm suspicious. Why is this 50 year old plastic so clean and defect free? I wouldn't give a plum nickel on this possible scam!! Remember, there is also an Ebay seller that also sells vintage, mint, empty boxes. Me thinks one sale leads to another. Great point, never thought of that....
1972coronet Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 Relisted ? Perhaps the original bid winner backed out of the deal ? MPC 1969 DODGE CHARGER R/T SEALED | eBay

MPC 1969 DODGE CHARGER R/T SEALED | eBay Relisted for sure. I think the first bidder backed out. End price was less than what I showed. I did check, this guy sells Vintage boxes and parts but has a feedback of 100% 1
gtx6970 Posted July 24, 2021 Posted July 24, 2021 No way would I buy a so called factory sealed kit online unless it was dirt cheap 1
Foghorn Leghorn Posted July 24, 2021 Posted July 24, 2021 That's a re-shrinked kit. Look at all the corner wear UNDER the shrink. I've got burned 2-3 times before i learned what to look for.

But then again, I plan on building them, so I wanna see what's in the box. I guess if you're a collector, you'll never be the wiser if there's an AMT '49 Mercury inside. Steve

Mark Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Don't think of this as a kit that will be built, as that is highly unlikely. Instead, think of it as a collectible item associated with 1969 Dodge Chargers. The buyer probably already has one or more 1:1 cars, a bunch of factory accessories (either on the car, in original boxes, or both), every dealer brochure and book you can imagine, and promos in every color. An unassembled kit would fit right into the collection.
