carbuilder1950 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 I needed to take a break from car models, and I had bought this for just a time like that. I hope you enjoy it. I had fun with this ?. 1
4mula1fan Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 Very cool! Clean build! I built one a number of years back. It was a nice change of pace. Did you split your own wood for the tender, like I did? Mine did quite well at area shows. 1
Jim B Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 Well done. I have this in the stash. Just need an excuse to actually build it. I think I just found it! 1
carbuilder1950 Posted October 28, 2021 Author Posted October 28, 2021 @4mula1fan Congratulations on doing so well at shows ?. I never entered mine. I just built it for fun. No real wood, I just weathered mine to look real. A fun build. Dave 1
bh1701 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 It looks really great! I built this kit way back in 1981 when it first came out. It still looks good, although over the years after being moved to a number of new homes a few of the small parts have popped off. I still have them resting on the track under the locomotive. I downloaded the instruction sheet and have plans to figure out where these little parts belong so I can reattach them. Bart 1

4mula1fan Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 I bought the Christy fire engine at the same time. Never have started it though. 1
Dave Van Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Very well done! I have two of these kits....I want to build a version of the General post war with more of a simple color scheme and detail differences. 1
TonyK Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Always nice to see something different. You did a real nice job on this. 1
BlackSheep214 Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Talk about a Blast from the Past! I, too built that kit when it first came out back in the very early 80s. I’ve been wanting to get another one for another go at it for years. Same thing the Clydesdale Budweiser beer wagon kit. Well done, sir!
GLMFAA1 Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Nice job, I built one for a local hobby shop, When it went it out of business they ask if I wanted it thinking it was mine, It was the deceased store owner. I built the kit in exchange for a kit of the general. I also built and painted the Magnasun figures that were for the General. greg.
