Swinger 340 Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 Started with the AMT Falcon. Located a Trumpeteer Falcon chassis and interior. Modified them to fit the altered wheelbase. The rear axle and traction bars are from the Revell Thunderbolt and the engine if from the Moebius Comet. I narrowed the kit intake to fit the Moebius motor and the injector stacks are from Speed City Resins. I removed the side and trunk moldings and filled in the space for the parachute in the trunk. Paint is Tamiya acrylics I mixed to what I thought looked right with Ts13 clear on top. The decasl are the kit deals with others from various ones I had from other projects. Not 100% accurate but much better than the original Amt chassis. Thanks for looking. 1
iBorg Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 Nice build. I appreciate the interior. Not sure what other donors are out there to replace AMT's AF/X interior. Nice improvement over the stock piece.

papajohn97 Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 (edited) Very nice execution Eric on this kit-bashed AWB Falcon. I tried making something acceptable out of the sister kit AMT ‘65 Mustang AWB “funny car” using the toy-like chassis supplied in the kit- what a challenge (= what a mess!!!) I think you did this right by adapting the Trumpeter chassis which looks like it provided a more accurate enclosed engine bay as well as more realistic stance. Look’s like we share the same taste in drag car models (‘60 - ‘66 super stocks). I love the ‘65 Plymouth Bill Jenkins Black Arrow build you posted last month as well as this Falcon. I’ve been trying to pick up a few more of the excellent Moebius Plymouth A990 kits before they all disappear to match up with a few of the also disppearing Slixx decal sets to fill out my SS collection. Hoping to soon build a Black Arrow as well as a Shirley Shahan Drag-On-Lady. Thanks for posting Eric! Show us some more of your builds! Edited December 12, 2021 by papajohn97 Corrected reference to Trumpeter chassis

The stock chassis for me does leave a lot to be desired. I built the Iowa Shaker Stock from the box and it never looked right to me I have the Mustang as well. Haven't built it yet because of the chassis. Maybe I'll come up with something for that one someday. I do like all the 60's and early 70's drag cars but super stocks and altered wheelbases are my favorite. I have a few of the Moebius kits waiting to be built. Stock and AWB. I am going to do Shahan"s 68 Dart. Hopefully soon myself. Now if they would just come out with the dodge version of the A990 and AWB.
papajohn97 Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 (edited) Thanks for replying Eric. I read somewhere on here that Mobius is working on a Dodge version of their ‘65 Plymouth kits - hope this rumor is true, I would love to build an accurate version of Landy’s AWB Dodge (using the Slixx decal set) without having to resort to resin parts. A ‘65 Dodge AWB could also be built as a Ramchargers, Bud Faubel “Honker”, Dave Stricker car, etc. On the AMT Mustang AWB Funny Car chassis, in case you missed it you can check out how I did my chassis mods on my build of the Dick Brannan “Bronco” match racer using this horrid kit that I posted last June here. Looking forward to enjoying more of your SS builds! Edited December 12, 2021 by papajohn97 Removed extra word

Of course you could use the Trumpeter Falcon chassis again as well. I used the 1/24 scale chassis under an AMT '66 Falcon build. I cut the chassis just in-front of the rear wheels to shorten it to fit the 1/25 scale Falcon body. The width was very close as is.
TransAmMike Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Good job Eric, bet the real car was a beast to drive down the track.?
Zippi Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Good looking Falcon. I like all the old school drag cars. Great job.
bogger44 Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Oh man, nice work on all the kitbashing, love this. A definite improvement over what this kit offers out of the box. When building mine I only swapped out the wheels/tires, some engine bits, and hood.

I figured a Mustang of some sort would be the way to go.
