1970 1/2 Z28 Camaro (the dreaded orange one)

Decided I’d see if I can make a silk purse from this sows ear. Being molded in orange is actually a helpful thing because I’m going with an orangeish color anyway. Undecided on interior color at this time. Started assembling the engine and doing stance mock-up yesterday. Also was my first time using Tamiya thin cement, WOW!! is all I can say. Can’t believe I didn’t learn about this stuff earlier lol.

You’ve got a nice looking start on it Keith! That is my go to cement…I prefer it over CA for styrene-styrene joints. This kit actually builds up pretty nicely. It does have some issues though.  Here’s a link to my build thread if you want to see the issues I had with it. Good luck with her!🙂

Don’t ya hate it when you’re digging through your parts box looking for something and you find a part that makes you change your mind on something else? Yeah me too lol! I’m calling the engine done for now lol

Honestly I don’t know how you guys do it LOL

i decided to go out of my comfort zone some more and try to do some detailing under the hood. I added heater hoses, ran a hot wire for the alternator and added power steering lines between the pump and steering box. Also added brake lines from the master cylinder and both positive and negative battery cables. After a long day at work outside I had to stop myself because my eyes were starting to cross 😂

Isn't wiring an engine fun though? Very rewarding in the end. Great job.

It is very rewarding to see the finished product, but my brain was having a fight with itself. One half said “ok that’s fine” and the other half said “nahhh we can do this and this and this…” 😳

I like the color combo, if you look close the orange is bleeding thru your tan.  Might need another coat.

Yeah I noticed that 😒 It looked fine the other day when I sprayed it.

I’ll give it another coat and let it dry for a few days then start detailing it.

Hi Keith, engine details look good. I’m with you on the eyes going crossed when doing the small details. I usually try to split it up the small detail work with less detailed stuff to rest the eyes, but there are times when you get in the zone… That’s a really nice orange on the body.
