Found an other set of wheels that I like. They are a OZ racing wheel, don’t know from what or which manufacture but it’s either Aoshima or Fujimi. They are roughly 20,8mm and I need them to be 20,3 to be able to fit within the sleeves so I can get the right depth on them. Will see if I use same sleeves front and back or if I use wheel rings in front to make them a bit smaller so I can get them staggered.

Have finally managed to make al the OZ wheels fit within the sleves and wanted to see the the ride height and depth. Might try to pull some depth out of the fronts but it also looks cool.

Ride height is close to stock in the rear, and front spindles turned upside down in the front.

At last I can drop the wheels and start prepping for paint and spraying some color!

Have been testing some other wheels. Can I please have some inputs on what suits it. Which is best of the ones I have. And maybe some options that would work.

And please feel free to comment, and come with ideas or suggestions 🙂 it’s much appreciated!

If it was my truck I'd probably go with the last set, but the 4x4 six lug wheels are pretty sharp too. But I REALLY like the "Beemer" style.

Thanks for your input m8! I will use the last set mentioned on my other truck, the C5R Silverado. This one will use the OZ wheels above 😉

Looking good.

Just a thought...what about removing that fuel tank and putting a fuel cell in the rear, where the spare tire would normally go?

Would fit the overall theme.

The thought have hit me. I even cut a tank today that will fit the bill. A Supra long distance tank. I guess it would have more weight over the rear wheels 😉

  • Mattilacken changed the title to 1988 Chevrolet C1500 , LSX 454SS CBR,

Got some chassi work done. Suspension is glued in and steering works. I also did some dry brushing of rust and grit. Whom is keeping the underside of their race truck spotless?
The big fuel cell even seem to work. Not much clearance but I guess it’s enough. Otherwise I need to steal some space in the box

Needed to do some adjustments to fit the grill as intended. So I also opened up the grill area to give it some more detail. I also think I will use a AMT corvette radiator in the back but some more mods will be needed since It interferes with the engine at the moment. More on that later.

If you used a four bar set up like the one in the Revell Foose pickup and airbags you can raise the bed floor for suspension clearance and that will give you room to raise your fuel cell up,  and it doesn't have to be that wide you could leave enough room on the sides to fit a .090 plastic or aluminum tubing exhaust system down each side and use the X-pipe from a Boss 5.0 2013 kit so it's a little more modern and it won't look like you robbed the exhaust idea from the late model Ford Lightning. Even if NASCAR had been using it for a couple of decades.😆)

Would be cool!  But that ambition level is to high for me right now 😉

Hello Anton! This beast is coming along nicely. The grill/headlights look fantastic. The stance, and final wheel choice are top shelf. As to the paint issue, first of all, dang!…. I am not an expert, I would check out Plowboy’s thread on “how to save a paint job”. Roger’s builds as I’m sure you know are absolutely awesome.

Hopefully this helps. Keep up the great work, this build really speaks to me.

Cheers, Steve

I have only had some random time to put in to the hobby lately. So paint haven’t been adressed yet. Will see if I get around to that during the weekend or if I will be working my daytime job most of it.
managed to install the fuel cell and the fuel line that goes to the top mounted pump. Will se if I will ad a filler in the mid of the bed. I have also started looking at the shock issue. 506B9362-51B4-45B9-921B-0FA3E8C0562B.thumb.jpeg.8f9b776399802bf8baa10a29b6b4225f.jpeg
