All of Tim Boyd's postulating about FE diggers got me amped up so I dropped my current project of some Warhammer 40K figures to throw down on this kit. It is largely done but why not share what has been accomplished up to this point. Scratched up a better mag as well as a K valve and hat distribution. Threw on some ignition and it's a party. The decals are super nice and thin and relatively tough enough for my rather clubby mitts. I would say I am at the 90% mark. This as far as this wip session goes but thanks Tim for inspiring me to rip into this kit. One more digger on the shelf is always a good thing as my Garlits collection continues to grow.

Thanks guys, this kit was far better in overall quality than I expected. This is one that eluded me back in the day and the reish is a welcome addition to my digger and Garlits collection.

This thing was very rare, for a long time! Don Fahrni gave me one back in the early-mid '80s that I built (I'm planning a rebuild of it, with a hemi, instead of the BB Chevy I used, then). I'd already removed the front axle, by the time this photo was taken. It's a pretty neat kit! Yours is looking way better than mine ever did.

That was nice of Don. That build is totally killer top to bottom, and I would display that in the front of any of my shelves. Not only that but when this was put together matters.

It looks as fresh as a daisy.

That's just the kind of guy he was. If he knew you were "serious" about modeling, he'd bend over backwards, to help you. It didn't matter if he'd known you a day, or a decade. I think I finished it in '84 or '85. There have been a couple of things about it that have bugged me, since soon after it was built, but, it was a part of my journey!

Having signposts along the way as well as reminders of where you were and how far you have come are so important. It allows perspective as well as a real gauge of all you have accomplished. They should always be left as they are.
