Jantrix
Well I gotta say I like the tri-spokes. The white walls with babymoons also look good but only if you're going to add some 50's stylings to the build.
rick6343
The radical "nike" wheels would be interesting on this car (though I don't think I'd like them on anything else). If I were to use wheels as a design feature like that, however, I would definitely NOT paint them black. The unique design would get lost. If you paint the car red or orange, I'd go with white, yellow, or silver wheels.
W-409
And then... I'm starting to embarrass myself here. These are the best! Whitewalls aren't bad anyways, but these are better. Those three spokes are better than those other ugly wheels, but they aren't matching with that engine so nicely. Anyways, I say that put these! 71datsun1200
The tri spokes seem to go with the car better then the others. the white walls don't really go with the car. just my 2cents.
dwc43
And then... These look good too. Gives it that Trans Am race car look to it.
george 53
These are the best ones yet. It's your build, so go with what works for YOU! X2!!!!!!!
cruz
So far, I like the tri-spokes best, I am old school and have never been too crazy about low profile tires on these kind of older cars, I would probably try a few more choices before deciding on one of these. I am very much like you when it comes to rim and tire choices so, I feel what you're going through before your final choice....
Mad Slammer
The three spoke rims are the ones to use, paint the centers body or contrasting color and leave the lip chromed. Also try using Pegasus Pilots they have some nice "meatier" tires that should fit the rims very well.
Guest JamesDE
Agreed, the 3 spokes look best on there....Great start to this!!!
stewart
Maybe I just have strange taste but I really like the extra "one-off" that those "nike" wheels add. I thought they looked familiar when I first saw them and I just found a picture of a 1.1 with those wheels.
62rebel
i wish i could get my pics to load; i have two matadors, one stock, one "X"; the "X" has a cool split-level hood and coffin nose grille, but they kept the stock rear end... i couldn't see having a wild custom front with a plain butt, so i used a custom grille from something and inset it into the rear pan, then painted clear red over the chrome to simulate lens material. a pic of it might be stored in some of my old posts. i wish AMT had provided a better depiction of the front suspension, but those were the '70's. Chris C
3 spokes with flat gunmetal (tamiya XF56??) centres and chrome rim would be my choice. Cool build either way!
Casey
I think this would be the perfect build to use a set of those huge 23" Pegasus wheels and tires. The Matador body is massive and when it's lowered, any rolling stock smaller than 18" gets overwhelmed by the body's size.
Skydime
I'm pretty sure the 1:1 wheels like the ones on that Ram were made by Concept Neeper or Niche in the 90's or early 2Ks. Edited February 25, 2011 by Skydime
Guest
Another vote for the three spokes. I feel your pain when it comes to choosing wheel/tire combos. I go through it with every single build I do. It makes or breaks a model or a real car.

dwc43
I got one of these too so I could build the one I had back when I was in school. Only thing is,it does not come with the window plug for the smaller opera windows like my 74 had. I know they are in the race car kit version. I hope I can find a set to trade for without having to buy an extra kit just for the window plugs.
Joe Handley
I'll try and figure out what I'm going to do with the two Matadors I bought today and get back to you on that Dave.
