Repstock Posted December 17, 2012 Author Posted December 17, 2012 In my long tradition of doing everything at least twice, I re-did the Clark logo on the station because it wasn't as bright as the SUPER 100. When I made the original logo, there were no plans to light the model. Here are pics with the new, improved logo...
gasser59 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 That is quite an improvement. It looks SUPERB!! What's next to do?
charlie8575 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 That's spectacular, Tom. I'm curious, what's the overall dimensions of that with the base? Charlie Larkin
Repstock Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 That's spectacular, Tom. I'm curious, what's the overall dimensions of that with the base? Charlie Larkin At the base of the walls, about 13" wide, 8.5" deep. At the roof, it's about 13.5" wide, and 10" deep. Pretty compact for a building.
Repstock Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 That is quite an improvement. It looks SUPERB!! What's next to do? Thanks. Right now I'm working on the restrooms. There's a lot of detail to be added to the back of the building, I'm looking forward to that part.
mikelo Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Wow, thats looking great! What did you use for the lights? Great uniform color and division. Mike
Alex Breza Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 First time reading this post. Your detailed work is amazing and jaw dropping.
Grumpa Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 This is absolutley stunning Tom. I've been watching it go together over the last year and it really knocks my socks off.
Repstock Posted January 1, 2013 Author Posted January 1, 2013 I finished the bathrooms for the most part (pics later). I decided to tackle the Clark sign. The gas prices are from the later half of 1977.
Repstock Posted January 1, 2013 Author Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) I couldn't figure out how to animate the chasing lights on the outer edge of the sign, but I lit everything else. These images are a bit overexposed, it's not this bright in person. In person, the signs are easily read. The traffic lights in the backround run through their sequence, but that's another story. 64SS350 Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Can I suggest a control box from a chasing Christmas light set, may be LEDs inside?
Repstock Posted January 1, 2013 Author Posted January 1, 2013 Can I suggest a control box from a chasing Christmas light set, may be LEDs inside? I decided early on that every light I install must be accessible in case I need to replace it. (obviously the traffic lights and streetlights are not accessible). With this in mind, one side of the round portion of the sign screws on to the other like a jar lid. The area directly behind the "chasing" lights is occupied by the male and female threads of the screw-on part, so there is no room behind them to do anything. Thanks for the suggestion, though!
Ben Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 You never cease to amaze me!!!!!!! If that station wasn't sitting on your display cabinet, I would swear it was real!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just too cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BenDover78 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Can any of you gas pump experts identify these pumps? The information will help my research. (pictures borrowed from earlier in thread.) Those are from the 70's
Danno Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I haven't posted to this thread for quite awhile, primarily because my uncontrollable drooling has shorted out my keyboard every time I've dropped in. Tom ... SPECTACULAR!!! Stunningly ... accurate. Amazing artistry. Keep it up!
Randy D Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Hi Tom, I'm with Dano on this one, AMAZING!!!!!! Your work is meticulous and a joy to look at!!! Randy
Repstock Posted June 21, 2013 Author Posted June 21, 2013 (edited) i added the "bulbs" to the lights. This is the final effect. Not completely convincing, but not too bad. Edited June 21, 2013 by Repstock
Repstock Posted June 21, 2013 Author Posted June 21, 2013 I finished the restrooms. This station is at it's prime, so no filthy, disgusting restrooms here. Mens Ladies
Repstock Posted June 21, 2013 Author Posted June 21, 2013 (edited) I made this shed for out back, but I think I overdid the weathering quite a bit. I'll probably save it for another use. Finally, I made a phone booth. I found the actual specs and dimensions on line. It is LED lit. The door is hinged and works as well. Edited June 21, 2013 by Repstock
Eshaver Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Tom, you are the most dangerous diorama builder east of the Mississippi !
Custom Mike Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Tom, I've gone through this entire thread...you owe me a keyboard! This is absolutely stunning work, the lighting is...I don't have the proper adjective, I grew up in the Chicago area, and remember all the Clark stations...you have nailed them perfectly! Congratulations on one beautiful build! I can't wait to see it completed!
S. Svendsen Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Your whole project is amazing as usual. You are one of the modelers I really look up to. Keep up the great work
