Harry P. Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Snagged a Pocher 1931 Alfa 2300 Monza (unbuilt, complete kit!) on ebay yesterday for an incredible "Buy it Now" price, literally hundreds of $$$ less than the other listings for the same kit. And the shipping was only 15 bucks! (Those Pocher boxes are HUGE, so I got a great deal on the shipping cost, too! Sometimes you just get lucky...
Austin T Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I didn't happen if there are no pics Harry, show us this monster.
Harry P. Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I didn't happen if there are no pics Harry, show us this monster. It hasn't arrived yet! But this is the kit. Not this listing, but the same kit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pocher-Alfa-Romeo-SC-2300-Monza-1931-Never-assembled-/360452775959
imarriedawitch Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Yesterday I got 4 drag racing goody sheets from Slixx and a Monogram '71 Satellite and AMT '75 Duster from rickandkathy on eBay. Today I received a Pro Modeler '69 Dodge Daytona Charger from JimNOhio.
martinfan5 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 It hasn't arrived yet! But this is the kit. Not this listing, but the same kit: http://www.ebay.com/...d-/360452775959 So you didnt pay $700, I am going to guess $300
Harry P. Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 So you didnt pay $700, I am going to guess $300 I wish! That would have been a steal. Actually I paid $450.
martinfan5 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I wish! That would have been a steal. Actually I paid $450. I was going to guess $400 at first, well $450 is a heck of a lot better then $700 . I am curious , how much do the Pocher kits weigh?, I know they are going to vary, but at 1/8th scale, theres gotta be some weight to it

I am curious , how much do the Pocher kits weigh?, I know they are going to vary, but at 1/8th scale, theres gotta be some weight to it I don't know. I've never weighed one! If you mean built (not the whole box), I would guess somewhere around 5-6-7 pounds? They have a lot of metal parts, it's not all just plastic, so that adds to the weight.

Nick Winter Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Nice haul! Plymouth Fury III ragtop? 440 power? Yes Liam Two '69 Fury III, no 440 (in '69 they were only available in the Sport Fury according to the C body forum) my cars are 318 2 barrels with 727 Thorqueflite and 8 3/4 I wish! That would have been a steal. Actually I paid $450. Jeez $50 more than I paid for two Running '69 Fury's. Stopping is another story. Blew the front pass (right side) Brake line getting it on the trailer. The Brown Parts car had no issues getting it out of it's resting place and onto the trailer. More pictures, popped a battery in the White car, poured some gas in the carb and she fired right up, 318 sounds good with true duels and Glass packs. Threw the battery in the white car and put the top down, and back up with no issues. I see atleast my money back, still have to go next week and pick up the rest of the parts and wheels/tires from Andy. Nick

MyBradKeselowski Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 It hasn't arrived yet! But this is the kit. Not this listing, but the same kit: http://www.ebay.com/...d-/360452775959 WOW ! ! that's a lot of parts from what I could see...
Rob Hall Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 A restorable Johan '70 Javelin Mark Donahue Trans-Am kit...
charlie8575 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Nick- Great finds, seriously. You could still probably sell that other car and make back your $400 very easily, even with some parts missing. The Pocher kit looks interesting- I'm surprised they were pre-painted. I would've figured they'd have been cast in plain zamac. Charlie Larkin
Austin T Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Those pochers are works of art,I have seen a real one in person and whoa.
Foxer Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 For most of the last six or seven years, the General Court of the Commonwealth (the state legislature of Massachusetts) has declared usually the second weekend in August a sales tax holiday. Sales tax on all items except restaurants, cars, boats and ATV-type things, up to $2500, is cancelled. This was done to help a lot of retailers, who usually have a tough time paying their bills in August, draw in some business, particularly for big items like white goods, furniture and electronics. Charlie Larkin I didn't mention because of the subject, but I got a new water softener "over the weekend" (I'm in Massachusetts too). Now I can spend all my savings at HobbySearch - Model Car Store .. Japan!
Harry P. Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 The Pocher kit looks interesting- I'm surprised they were pre-painted. I would've figured they'd have been cast in plain zamac. Charlie Larkin They're not pre-painted, the parts are cast in different colored plastic. And they're not diecasts, they're regular plastic injection-molded kits, but there are a lot of metal parts like the radiator shell, headlight buckets, lots of chassis parts like linkages and shocks and stuff like that, metal wheel rims and spokes, etc. And hundreds and hundreds of tiny screws and other assorted hardware. But the body panels, most of the chassis and most of the engine are plastic.
cobraman Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 That will keep you busy for a good long while. You going to build it and share some photos with us ?
Harry P. Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 That will keep you busy for a good long while. You going to build it and share some photos with us ? I'm going to build it, but photos are a long way off! These babies take some time to build. Here's are a couple of finished ones I did a few years ago.
cobraman Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Those are really nice. Not sure I could tackle one of those babys.
Harry P. Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Those are really nice. Not sure I could tackle one of those babys. They are a handful. Some of the bigger kits (the Rolls Royces, for example) have almost 3,000 parts.
cobraman Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I have enough trouble with a kit that has 130 parts. I would be a year easy trying to build a 3,000 parts kit. Better make that 2 years. : )
